I would like to agree with you but I cannot, on my understanding of keeping tight hold on a massive regime they’re going to do it through fear and intimidation tactics and I’m am on a sad note, mathematically they are most likely going to find the traitor and or spy eventually and have plenty more bodies to replace those positions.... it’s happened in the real world multiple times in history
@SupersaiyanChristian5 жыл бұрын
punishing is one thing. Executing officers who fell for the same ploy he did was just stupid. Vader is almost as bad as maul was here: an animal who's emotions and ego run too wild. He frequently killed any for failure. fear is a powerful tool for control, but only for a little while. after a while it spawns rebellion, just like the empire inevitably did. the longer you rule by fear, the more likely it becomes that rebellion will spring up. Thrawn's vision of the empire in Legends was a FAR better one as far as the military is concerned. that's why he truly had the soldiers' undying loyal whereas the regular soldiers obeyed out of fear and would gladly see their superiors gone
@RequiemPoete5 жыл бұрын
@@lazarusluna1475: Here's the problem. Following that logic Vader himself should jump out the nearest airlock. Other than insulting him, that Officer was spot on for calling Vader out. Especially true since Sith and Jedi can sense deceit. Additionally EVERYONE fails at some point. If you execute all your experienced officers after a rare failure, then your lobotomizing your command structure by putting in less expirenced people who are more likely to fail. Ruling through fear by crushing dissent and disloyalty is one thing, but if I were a loyal officer and I know I'll be executed the moment I make one mistake, or not even that, happen to be in command when something beyond my control happens, forget retreat. I'll be defecting the moment I realize a mistake was made.
@SupersaiyanChristian5 жыл бұрын
@Arcrombie even Palpatine rarely went as far as Vader regularly does. Bane himself believed senseless killing was useless to the goals of the Sith. Vader, despite being a monster, was a failure of a Sith IMO. He failed in many of their tenants aside from brute force. He was a perfect sith warrior true, but even their usefulness was limited. It's why I liked the sith at the end if the Vader comics. He exposed Vader perfectly for his flaws.

Just wow...at that point you'd start to think *seasoned command staff* are just a dime a dozen, atleast Vader seemed to think that was the case. It's no wonder why Thrawn was more well liked and respected by his own men and officers, for him a live experienced, and competent (but not frickin omniscient..) officer is more valuable than a dead one just because some emperor's "lapdog" lost his already short temper!

That’s hard to believe that they could infiltrate the Empire that deep. How would Palpatine not know Beecher’s intentions through the force?
@morgant.dulaman87333 жыл бұрын
Late reply, but the force doesn't tell all regarding a person's intentions. From what I've read, it often gives insight into one's emotional state and whether they are hostile. This means that even a non-force user can disguise their intentions against a Jedi or Sith provided they keep their emotional state in control. One Legends, or as I like to call it true canon novel, "Legacy of the Force: Revelation" has an admiral deceiving Vader's Jedi-turned-Sith grandson Jacen, keeping him from realizing she intends to overthrow him by keeping a constant veneer of contempt for him as her present mental-state while still doing her job and working with him.

@Heretic19815 жыл бұрын
Nah, he did it because he was chickenshit. Now, if he'd taken a shot at Vader, said something along the lines of "The emperor does not tolerate failure", THAT would have been brass balls, not to mention perfect timing on the heels of that other officer's speech. He gets lucky and takes Vader out, who's going bug shit and whacking high command after he transferred command to a SPY, what's anyone going to say to that? It's exactly the kind of move Vader or Palpatine would have made on any officer short of Moff Tarken. Worst comes to worst, guy gets executed by Vader or Palpatine, which was going to happen anyway.

Vader honestly makes me feel uncomfortable especially when get kills his own people, for little mistakes and for them standing up for themselves to his abuse, he honestly doesn't care about the empire, itself. Just a pure definition of selfishness and carelessness. Like a alcoholic father in a black suit and a plazma sword with magical powers. Oh wait
@ryankwon87852 жыл бұрын
The loyal officer who scolded Vader probably knew he was going to die but he probably thinks it is worthwhile to scold Vader for his own incompetence. He would rather die than serve under an incompetent and selfish Sith Lord. By any chance, Thrawn would've handled the Bircher betrayal situation much better. However, what was interesting is that Vader allowed the loyal officer to continue his speech and didn't immediately punish/kill him. Vader is known to like effective, confident, and strong officers like Thrawn. I wonder if Vader would've commended the officer for standing up or brutally torture him on the spot.

What not going to mention the fact a COLONEL is somehow getting a NAVAL command?
@xaenon5 жыл бұрын
@@TEGRULZ There have been a number of instances where a Marine officer was placed in direct operational command of a Navy unit. This would include a Marine colonel acting as a Navy captain, since the ranks are functionally equivalent. It's not normally done, that's true, but there's no precedent saying a Marine can't command a naval unit. The term 'naval' is also kind of fuzzy here, as spacecraft could be described as both types of ships and types of aircraft. It makes sense that there would be sort of 'unified' rank structure that accommodates both lines of thought.
@TEGRULZ5 жыл бұрын
@Juan Cena | THE CHAMP IS HERE radical concept this, but they do, for example in Death Squadron, Executor has a CAPTAIN commanding, a Admiral commanding the Squadron, and a General commanding the ground forces. I think it's made fairly clear there are an Imperial Army and Navy. They have their own rank structures.

That commanding officer who spoke up to Vader was completely justified in lashing out at Vader, even if it was foolish. He seemed to care about not only the Empire he served under, but also his subordinates to the point were he would confront essentially the Grim Reaper himself. The so-called "Loyal" Imperial officer that shot him was the real traitor. But so is the way of the Empire. It is no wonder they lost to a bunch of teddy bears and a handful of rag-tag insurgents. All of their competent officers died for the sake of dogma and faux-loyalty. Even with all of his success, one could argue that Vader did much more to harm the Empire than he ever did to strengthen it.

It is because Vader is being a child. Without even taking a moment to think and maybe plan a far better way to draw the spy. Yet in Legends. Vader HATED officers within the Empire. Hated them all. Each of them in his mind were cowards. He had more respect for the nameless grunt on the ground in a foxhole. Than, some Imperial officer sitting behind a desk on some other planet directing a war. Yet this is Legends Vader. Cannon Vader would have been brutal but he would not have slaughtered a room full of Imperial Officers to find the spy. He would have been more calculating about it. Even going so far to pretend to go against the Emperor. All to draw the spy out. Then, make his move. Legends Vader was cool at times but really he was a child. Compared to the Canon Vader. Who had hate and anger and moments of lashing out. Yet he didn't slaughter half of a ship's command staff to feel better about himself.
