yeah, especially the fact that the narrator Chara theory actually makes a lot of sense. they are a child who's last memories before they fell into the underground were the humans potentially abusing them, why would they ever try to kill the monsters that actually took care of them? that plan Chara and Asriel made to collect 7 human souls kind of makes sense for them to do because Chara has a disliking for humans. Chara isn't responsible for the genocide run because again, they are a child. the player is. i know Frisk is a child too, but they literally have no control of what they're doing 99% of the time because of the player controlling them. aaaaaand im rambling again arent i-

I always got the impression that Chara was a troubled child with a good heart. Asriel said they weren't "the greatest person," and that they hated humanity. He also said that Chara and Frisk are different, and that Chara climbed the mountain for an unhappy reason. This gives me the impression that Chara was potentially unhappy or even suicidal, and their main flaw that makes them different than Frisk is that they couldn't forgive humans for (presumably) hurting them in some way, unlike how Frisk could forgive Asriel. Based on the genocide route, it seems like Chara hasn't forgiven Asriel theirself either, but if you believe the Chara narrator theory then they do forgive him in the pacifist route. I feel like it's implied that Chara was abused by humans, which could explain some of their manipulative and abusive behavior towards Asriel. I think Chara was genuinely trying their best to be a good sibling to Asriel, but didn't know how. The fanon idea that they were some evil murder child who planned it all from the beginning just doesn't feel right to me. They're a kid just like Asriel, and everyone seemed to be perfectly willing to forgive Asriel for the horrible things he's done, so why can't people forgive someone who killed at most 3 people (it's debatable if they killed Flowey), way less than Asriel? That's just my opinion though, I think they're intentionally left mysterious so people can interpret them how they like. tl;dr imo Chara is a troubled child who was trying their best to be good, but wants vengeance rather than justice.

You know, it never occurred to me that voluntarily LOADing or RESETing a SAVE would involve actually killing yourself instead of just pressing a magic button like so many comics depict. Flowey even says in game that that was how he RESET. I guess if you've got the determination to change fate, you'd be willing to do that if it meant going back for a second chance.

The only issue with that is the fight with Flowey. He is able to load without dying so it is possible. It really depends on how you view it. This is especially true when you consider that you can only reset from the main menu, after quitting the game. Dying only allows you to load your last save. The mechanics behind it are up to heavy interpretation if you consider it anything other than a game.

@Fluffynator All through out the game, laughter is used as a coping mechanism for hard situations by multiple characters. Sans tells jokes, despite his depression, Toriel laughs when you kill her, Asgore laughs before he tries to kill you, and a bunch of other characters laugh as they think abt being stuck in the underground. Chara laughed for the same reason. It's a coping mechanism for them too :o

Oh, I get it. To activate Hard Mode, you have to set the name as "Frisk," which would make Frisk the first fallen human, and that would make Chara the 8th human instead, right? They swapped places? Edit: What I'm guessing the difference in plot, and why Flowey is different, is that Frisk never suggested Chara's plan to get more SOULs for the barrier, but they did end up getting sick and dying. Asriel genuinely wanted to give them their final wish of seeing the Golden Flowers from the village. However, the humans saw Asriel and attacked, despite him and Frisk wanting to show MERCY. He ends up getting killed, and becomes convinced that all humans (other than Frisk, obviously) were horrible. He's not as sadistic and cold because Frisk's good nature being a bit of a better role model than Chara made him not completely abuse his SAVE power.

I'd like to think that (in normal ut) naming yourself Frisk meant that you never got Chara's DT meaning Frisk was at a disadvantege and that's why the game was harder, I know it doesn't make sense considering things like new enemies and snail pie which wouldn't really change just because you are weaker but maybe you could say that when Chara saw Frisk fall in fear they could destroy the underground Chara gave their powerup to the entire underground instead of Frisk? (that could actually be a cool AU honestly)

That was literally the most fantastic one I’ve seen yet. The emotion poured into Flowey you and Chara and how Toriel was played out, it was wonderful! It wasn’t just the regular UNDERTALE story it had a new spin. This original concept was glorious and the way that they have a dynamic hate but help kind of friendship. I nearly cried at the ending. The sincerity in Chara’s voice was moving. Thank you so much Vade!

You know, I like this new interpretation of Chara. I feel like people often forget that Chara is as much of a blank slate as Frisk is, meaning that their actions and motivations can be changed at will, just like with Frisk. Yeah, Chara “technically” has a backstory with Asriel, but aside from those specific actions that Asriel told us about, we don’t really know what Chara was actually like. So it’s easy to just insert Chara into this convenient box and just label them as pure evil, when really, they were only a child who probably wasn’t measuring the consequences of what they were doing. Neither did Asriel for that matter. And for those saying “well, Chara shows up at the end of the genocide route and destroys the world, of course they’re evil!” Yeah, you know who else attempted to do that, even though they eventually got redemption at the end? Asriel. I thought it was clear that Chara’s impure intentions were due to the PLAYER’s actions, not theirs.

I... holy cow. This is absolutely incredible! The voices, the effects, the pacing--you guys did an absolutely outstanding job on this! I can imagine how much work went into this, and boy did it pay off. I'd like to believe that Undertale Hard Mode is basically Chara's tale instead of Frisk, like, I don't know since Flowey arealdy exists so yeah it's confusing to me, maybe people or monsters see as Chara but don't treat her like her; Flowey only existed because of the incident of the surface and crossing the barrier. Maybe even before Asriel? No, maybe it's from perspective from monsters and human seen as Chara, Flowey be somehow more tolerable with the human actions, knowledge what is bad and good and fight for justice and equality between two beings. I don't understand, the tale from this comic bugs my mind and I can't process it, so possible theory's: 1- The event of Chara and Asriel disappearing already happened, since the surface incident, such as Flowey existing and being a souless creature, from the human look like Chara from the past however from a different rationality but similar appearance. 2 - The accident happened (the barrier thing) however Chara was able to reappear somehow however Flowey don't knowledge this and threat as any human being from stepping on the underground. 3 - There is a mistake on the timeline or appears to be a different history from the actual Chara, leading to overlap the timeline and giving chance to occupy by different and very distinguished events from the theorical one (the Undertale story) 4 - This is the true timeline; the Frisk's tale is just an alternative hipothetical tale told from a monster perspective, every single fact of this tale is truly one, the Asriel and many others factors were created to trick to believe that Undertale Normal Mode is the true timeline factor, maybe there would be several changes in Hard Mode.

In Undertale the game to access hard you name the fallen human (the first fallen child) frisk meaning that frisk was the first human to fall so the frisk and Chara's places swap making the first human (chara) the eight fallen human and the eight fallen human (frisk) the first at least that's my guess so I could be wrong

Explaining slightly better what the other guy said, Hard Mode only happens if you name yourself "Frisk", the real name of the character you are playing as during the entire game What happens here is that Frisk and Chara swaps places, Frisk becoming into the 1st Fallen Child, which would explain very well why Flowey here doesn't have the "Kill or Be Killed" mentality as Frisk was pretty much very much different compared to Chara, and their relationship with Asriel and the Monsters was probably way better. And with that said, that would mean that the death of both children should have hit HARDER on monster's Hearts, considering that Frisk's Methods are way different than Chara's I'm not saying that Chara is Evil and Frisk Good, but even Asriel said that Chara was not exactly the best person.

Because of frisk being the first to fall he would’ve been influenced differently, instead of thinking everyone is the issue he thinks humans are the issue.
