Lush has solid versions of pretty much all the basic traditionally liquid toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, lotion, etc. which is great because you can save space within the 3-1-1 rule for things that don't come in solid forms. It's also a lot easier to travel with solid forms because you don't have to worry about leaks.

Honestly, I've found it easier to just pick up liquid toiletries in the country I'm traveling in rather than bring it from home, and then at the end you can leave it at the hostel (if you're staying in one) and pay it forward to whoever doesn't have toiletries for whatever reason (like confiscated at the airport :D) Also I have disposable razors that I just bring one or two with me and then toss it at the end. Another added benefit to picking up while traveling and tossing before leaving is lighter luggage weight which means more room for gifts and souvenirs and less likely to pay extra for baggage.

Hey Vagabrothers! It's like a powdered toothpaste! LUSH has a bunch of flavors. I really like the LUSH toothy tabs, which are like a pressed tooth powder. Love your work guys! I use Dr Bronners for pretty much everything, except shampoo. I find it doesn't work so well on my hair after more than a couple of washes. I use the JR Liggetts shampoo bar on my hair, which is a bit clunky, but lasts a long time and doesn't count as a liquid. I also use toothpowder instead of toothpaste. It lasts suchhh a long time, takes up less space, and again, doesn't count as a liquid. I also use a bamboo toothbrush instead of a plastic one, I usually buy a kids sized one because its smaller, or like you said, just snap it in half. I find they last longer and are much easier to keep clean while travelling. Aside from a few bits of makeup, I also take a little tub of coconut oil. It works amazingly as a moisturiser, after-sun lotion, makeup remover, hair treatment, etc. I've been travelling for years but did my first carry-on-only trip through Europe for 6 months last year. It was amazing, crazy how little we actually need on the road!

@rominamartiniello6271
@rominamartiniello6271 7 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should start wearing makeup in preparation for said video? Haha, I look forward to your take on the subject! In my day to day life, I do like to wear a bit of light make up everyday. Obviously all girls and boys will have their own personal preferences when it comes to make up. The most minimal attitude is to go without, but I really enjoy wearing makeup sometimes, and because of that, I choose to take some with me while travelling. Generally, my attitude toward makeup while travelling totally depends on where I'm going and what kind of trip it is. I travel to a lot to places like Cambodia and Samoa for my work. During those trips I don't wear much makeup, because it just melts off anyway! I'd just wear a light BB/CC cream or tinted moisturiser that has some kind of SPF coverage in it. I'd also take with me an eyebrow pencil, mascara, bronzer and one lipstick - just for nights out or special cultural events I might be invited to. Those things are really small, quick to use, and do the job nicely when I want to look a bit more awake, and a lot less scruffy. When I'm traveling through more mild climates, or when I'm spending more time in cities, I like to pack a bit more. My make up bag would consist of: - foundation or tinted moisturiser - concealer - light face powder - bronzer (I also use this as eyeshadow) - eyebrow pencil (I also use this as an eyeliner) - mascara To me, that works really well. If I'm feeling a bit indulgent, I'll also pack a small blush and a highlighter - but only for longer term trips where I will probably enjoy a few more options. In terms of makeup tools, I use the mini travel brushes from a brand called EcoTools. They're cruelty free and sustainable, very compact, and work exceptionally well. I also take a beauty sponge as well - I like the one from Real Techniques. Something that works for me is taking less brushes, but cleaning them more often. It's a great way to save space in my carry on. I use Dr Bronners to clean my brushes - it's the best and most natural brush cleaner I've used to date. So usually I take the sponge, 2 face brushes (one for powder, one for bronzer) and an eyeshadow blending brush. You only really need one face brush but they're so small so I like having two. My overall tips when it comes to makeup would be to look at product packaging, as this often takes up the most space, not the actual product. And secondly, to look at products as being multi-purpose, even if they may not be marketed that way. This can cut in half the amount of stuff you need to bring. Hope this helps! This is just how I like to do it, every person will have different preferences and needs when it comes to makeup. As you can probably tell, I like to be very intentional about what's in my bag, but I also like to make sure I have everything I need to be comfortable and feel great. When you don't carry a lot of stuff, it's important to really love the stuff you do carry!

Great tips - and yes Dr. Bronners does it all!. A few more to make things easy. A RMS Beauty makes small very flat containers of foundation/concealer or lip/cheek color. These can be applied with fingers or the tiny Real Techniques travel brushes. I like to use the same on lips and cheek for a healthy low key look. Ebay and Amazon have tons of different types of containers to decant your favorite products into - I like to buy them individually so the container is perfect for the product. Airless pumps are fantastic for getting all of the product out of the container and maximizing the little bit that you bring. Garnier sells small flattish bottles of micellar water. This doubles as a makeup remover and facial cleanser - it even dissolves pesky sunscreen. Australian Gold Tinted face spf 50 works well as a SPF and doubles as a blurring primer (even looks great and invisible on guys), this can help even out the ruddiness you can develop on your skin when in different water harness levels. For contact lens solution, one of the few things I don't want to decant, the RevitaLens travel bottles are small and flat (shaped like Elmer's glue bottles) and pack so easily!

The Dr. Bronner's tip was crucial because I really need to consolidate toiletries. Brought this way too big LLBean hanging bag PLUS(!) random ziplocs of toiletries on my trip to Iceland last year and really regretted it... In terms of other videos, I'm always interested in bag packing videos that show everything single item actually loaded into a bag. I'm 6' tall and all the most basic stuff I have to bring takes up so much space I find it hard to fit into one backpack.

We love bringing Dr Bronner's around with us too and have used it to wash our clothes! If we are travelling carry-on only we try to stick to solid products so they don't take up room in our liquids bag (solid shampoo, conditioner, a small bar of hand washing soap for our clothes etc). The travalo is another great product. It allows you to bring a travel sized version of your favourite perfume or cologne!

You can also get solid shampoo and conditioner bars from LUSH and you can get a couple bar tins to carry them in and that can also free up some space in your TSA bag

Before I go on a trip, I usually make a stop at Sephora and get a small sample bottle of my favorite fragrance. They'll make a free sample of anything they have and it's a great size to take with you on a short trip.

Dr Bronner soap for the win! It's a great American product and can find different places around the world! If not then just know Dr b is a simple beautiful Castile soap. It used to mean soap made from Spanish (castile region) olive oil. Now the def has relaxed to include soap made with any plant based oil esp olive oil. So....any Castile soap will be super versatile because of it's purity and there are artisan soapmakers who make it and have been for generations. It's all over the Mediterranean: Europe, North Africa, and Middle East You can find soapmakers wherever olives grow. If you run out of soap on your travels that seems a lovely memento to bring with you from such a place. Look for Aleppo soap in Syria! Pure soap should really just be made of oil and lye and will be named as saponified oil (oil turned to soap via combining with lye) The lye burns off so it won't be listed. They may add glycerin back in, it's a natural byproduct of the process. Anything else should be recognizable as a food or flower and is not necessary. When I learned this I started to realize just how overcomplicated toiletries are!

Love the ideas and the toiletry bags, specially the hanging one for shared bathroom travels. Those tubes do they leak or open easily during travel? Bought some cheap ones and the body wash opened and got inside of all the other bottles, basically lost all my products 😒

There is a teeny tiny battery op toothbrush. I don't remember the brand name. You can also get toothpaste pellets. I used to also make use of screw top contact lens cases for tiny amounts of things like Neosporin etc.

vagabrothers I'm hoping I can! It will be a challenge since I'm heading to scotland and that means more winter clothes, but I'm confident! Also do you guys think it's feasible to do the scotland highlands only by train/bus? I'll be on my own and have never driven on the left side so I'm not very keen on renting a car! Notifications are already on! :)

I've tried to not have my hair brush with me but I'm so used to having my brush with me all vacations I go on and when I dont have it I've thought I've lost it when its just sitting at home somewhere in my room .

I like bar soap! I go to a fancy store and get a nice bar that's appropriate for the time I'll be away. I put the soap container in a plastic bag, just in case. Better soap, especially that have clay, don't get as goopy. I use a bar when I'll fly to different locations. It's not in my liquid bag. I buy travel size liquid soaps, and lotions on the other side. There's also powdered toothpaste. In the winter, I can use a deodorant crystal without smelling like a hippie. I need my liquid bag for my essential sistah hair products! ;)

On the topic of medicine, would you have to bring prescriptions to prove that it's meant for you, and does the 3-1-1 rule apply to meds that need to be injected? I'm just wondering cuz I've heard that most airlines don't allow needles on their planes.
