Sandie looks great - prefer the first two songs tbh.

There is quite an interesting (and sickening) story to this performance. In the run-up to this TV show, press coverage had been dominated by the news that Sandie had been cited as 'the other woman' in a divorce case. Rolf Harris and his people wanted to drop her rather than be associated with her supposedly 'damaged' public profile. As for the BBC, they told her that she could 'rehabilitate' her reputation by winning Eurovision. It has also been claimed that she was told 'Either you do Eurovision or you don't work on the BBC again'. The BBC certainly thought that public opinion might have turned against her so she recorded these songs 'live' in a closed studio to avoid a potentially ugly confrontation on 'live' TV with a studio audience. It is a tribute to Sandie (then aged just 19) that she was able to pull off these incredible performances with such primitive tech (flat 60s PA, etc) and under such stress. As ever, the stinking hypocrisy of the BBC really, well, stinks. Enjoy this for what it is: our first modern pop star at her peak. All that said, now you know the backstory, will there ever be a better piece of pop masochism than Ask Any Woman.

Yeah, I once read about it. And Rolf Harris not wanting to be associated with someone's "damaged" public profile... the irony. I agree about Ask Any Woman, although this one isn't really my cup of tea. Boys and Dream Last Night, on the other hand, were awesome songs.

She was dating a guy who was getting divorced, so Rolph Harris wanted to drop her from the show on moral grounds 😂 😂 The irony and hypocrisy of the BBC even then.

'Tell The Boys' is my personal favourite, but maybe it wouldn't have won the Eurovision contest.

It should’ve been the a side of that 45 instead of puppet on a string. My personal opinion is, I think it was the better of the two, even though she had to hit with puppet on a string.

I saw every show and I was in love with Sandie from before then anyway. I'd dream about her at my Saturday job next day (I can work and dream at the same time.) But I didn't really like ANY of the actual songs as much as her previous records, although "Tell The Boys"was pretty good.

Preserved in even better quality than the song contest itself! Where’d you get it?!

This is live, damn she can sing on stage, impressed. Too bad this wasn't in 'colour'. Those piercing blue eyes get to you.

Had a dream last night was a good song too!!! But Puppet on a string was the only choice tbh.
