you probably know this by now, but the reason your cooking fires go out is because they are getting smothered by the smoke, you need a proper chimney to get rid of the smoke.

The team that worked on Valheim made sailing realistic, created the need to know some architectural tricks to keep those walls from falling in and gave you a world were rain erodes almost everything. They also wanted you to know smoke kills. The fire needs to breathe just as much as you do. You did a great job with your builds. Location, Location, Location! Thanks for the ideas, I will use this to create a village.

@@MoshmanGaming very true, I had to raise the ground in certain areas underneath my stone flooring into a corner of certain stone walls ,the hoe it flat so it didn't stick through but the walls where blue and thus allowing me to create the hight and width I needed to complete my building as I had it planned. Otherwise I would have had to have pillars to support the stone ceiling in the second floor I have. This was also before iron beams where a thing or I knew of them anyways

If the smoke cannot get out correctly, it puts out the fire undernath it. You can avoid it by rotating the roof pieces to look upward instead of downward.
@Astrussy Жыл бұрын
If you don’t like how the exit of your ventilation looks, you can also just give the smoke it’s own chamber, no ventillation is actually needed. Essentially build a tall box or horizontal box above the fire and the smoke will collect in it and slowly just dissipate. Another important note is that smoke particle are roughly the size of one floor piece (2x2), so if your ventillation/box is smaller than 2x2 the smoke won’t travel through it.

The fence in the windows is absolutely brilliant!

The campfires go out because they too can be choked out by smoke if it’s not properly vented. If you make your chimney taller, then make have an open area of walls at the top, beams in the corner and a roof pointing away from the house, it will properly vent the smoke out and you won’t have to worry about them going out. Hope this helped, and if it didn’t just look up valheim chimneys and someone should have a guide for you
@sojournermathys3 жыл бұрын
The campfires go out because they are smoking themselves out, they need a bit of extra space. Also, if you want your roofs to have a little bit of overhang, you can place a wooden crossbeam in the middle of your roof's corners and it will be snapped just enough for some modest overhang. Place your roofs then just remove the beams and replace them with whatever you want for detailing. Another tip is, you can make your windows look more authentic by adding a flat wooden beam on the bottem. These are easy as you have them from the start, so it's an early way to make your homes more homey. Hope these tips help, if you end up using them, or figuring them out by my crude explaining. A shout out would be nice =). Love the vids and I'm learning a lot, keep it up!

Nice building. I've a tip for your chimney problem. Build a chimney ;) no joke, just let the chimney pass your 2nd floor and the roof. Build a roof for your chimney (against the rain) and open the chimney on roof-level at one side 2nd tip for your storage underneath the stairs. Rotate your chests by 90° and you have more space and no tight floor

Looks great. Just a heads up though -Dragur claw right through wood walls. Trolls smash entire sections out. Can get around that not by building stone walls (smashsmashgone) but by raising the ground naturally into a wall, which they won't attack. Trolls also don't have too much difficulty with using rivers as highways. Been there, lol. Do love the authenticity and concept.

I believe your fires keep going out because they're being suffocated by their own smoke. I had this happen to me too when there wasn't proper ventilation. Your chimney doesn't really provide a sufficient way out in its present state - because the smoke won't 'travel' down to get out, i'll just build up directly over the fires and smother them.

Awsome build! I will definitely use some of your tips. And perhaps I can help with some stuff I have discovered so far: If you get rid of the stool, your comfort level will go up. Apparently lower level comfort things within the same category override higher level ones. So while chair has 2, it is overriden with the stool with 1. Also, I think the fires go out because they run out of wood. If you aim the focus on the fire it will show you how much fuel it has left out of 10. It lasts a long while, but needs replenishing from time to time. With the spare portal: remember to tag it before you go out, or the portal built out there in the land won't connect. Which can be key if you need to bug out quick! And make sure to remember what you named it ; P

You might wanna try replacing the logs in your fireplace, I think that might be causing the fire to keep going out like that. Try using beams and see if it stops. I've noticed some of the materials just behave different with weather when you try to build shelters out of them. Logs don't seem to have all the exact same characteristics as beams in that way.
@camroot60862 жыл бұрын
I would imagine you figured out why your fires are going out on you but just in case. It could be that you're suffocating the flames with having the roof for them so low. I kinda dislike how that'd a feature. Especially if youre using iron grates.
