Something to bring up at the end. James and most of the hell fighters are shown with there eyes unlike the other characters. But in the end after Frankie’s murder he suddenly has a helmet covering his eyes. This is likely symbolic of lost of hope or spirit or something. The hell fighters are a fresh group of fighters and are hopeful but james sees friends dying left and right finally ended on the death of his brother at home. Who when happily writing the letter can be seen with his eyes visible

It is a very sad irony when you think about it. Two characters who fought so hard and sacreficed so much for their homelands, they survived enemy bullets, bombs, hazzards, and so much more, but ended up killed by people of their own nations. First killed for desertion, and the other by rasism. Also, another irony I find is that despite gaining so much experience in battle, at using weapons and avoiding death, it was still useless when dealing with a bunch of punks with knives. One would think the only good thing about war is that those who survive it are hardened veterans that can survive anything, and yet...

Notice the detail at the end where james and his friend's eyes are covered, usually the characters who has their eyes covered are the ones who lost alot in the war, this symbolizes that james and his friend are now just as sad and broken like other eyeless characters, at the start they had hopeful somewhat cartoony eyes, covering them means that they finally experienced the true horror of war.

I was thinking along the lines of the main message of the game being war isn’t fun and is wasteful. So the Great Depression in my mind would rather fit to show the afterward destruction of war. Spoiler Alert. The fact I'll post below are related to the ending. . . . . . . Sad Fact: Freddie mentioned that they'll held a victory parade for them when they returned home. Unfortunately for all African-American, they would not get to participate in it. Their unit will be disband/discharge or being sent back to their "support service" which is doing all the chores for white soldiers and their abusive treatment will continue for the next century until today. While some parts of Harlem Hellfighter get to have their own parade, those are for attended and organized by local African-American community due to racial segregation but even those are rare exception. So it's not exageration to say: Freddie fought and earn nothing. He even died like dogs on the street with only Anna caring for him in his last breath. Especially since he was one of only 103 American who volunteered to fight The Great War from first till last day. All for nothing.

1:59:02 My grandfather served in WW2 at the Battle of the Bulge one of his jobs at the end of the bloody battle was to pick up guns, ammo, mementos from the fallen while I never met him he told my grandmother that he never forgot the faces of those he had to essentially “rob” to keep fighting. Told her you couldn’t take a single step without stepping on someone you knew or the enemy. He sadly never told her anymore of the war after that as it stuck with him the worst

This game and the game before it are phenomenal. The only thing I have against it is how drastically they changed Anna. She with Freddie are FINE, I would’ve personally kept them friends, since Emile, Freddie, and Anna were such a golden trio, but in alright with them being together. Last but not least, her voice. It SEEMS she got a new VA, and that’s cool, but she drastically changed from sounding Belgian to speak perfect English and sounding American. I’m not blaming the VA, she did great, I’m just sorta sad they changed Anna so much.

@Heylanda-fb9xb

It's the same voice actress actually. But she definitely got older and she reduce her Belgian dialogue greatly as she speak more American-English, which make sense since Freddie taught her how speak it.
