OH, man. You were so close to having the absolute best video on how to deal with that parking brake spring. I wish you had set down the camera and showed the exact process as I've never seen this approach before on turning that end of the spring. If you ever get the chance to video this in depth you should to save many a Chevy owner a lot of grief and frustration fighting with this.

I found that the new Centric brand shoes had a lever return spring that was stronger than the one on the older shoes and defeated me on my attempts to get cable to poke through, so I used the undamaged lever return springs from the old shoes. Miserable balancing act trying to get that huge dual big blue dual holdown/ retracting spring in without blowing one side of the wheel cylinder out. AbsoluteSh@t

The Colorado rear brake shoes is a poor design. By putting the Springs on the shoes it made it a pain in the butt to put on.

Indeed. Mechanics are not used in designing as much as they should be. Engineers don't do much in the way of fixing things.
