Holy shit dude, that's an amazing comparision. I think, that the basic is a bit too close to me and the the windows one just makes it almost perfect by moving the sound a bit farther away and so you can distinct where approximately if not very accurately detect where the sound is coming from.

They all sound like crappy equalizer presets more than anything. And I am coming from having the pleasure of using the 7.1 surround with the GSX 1000 DAC for 2+ years, not some crappy ripoff equalizer. These software surround sound virtualizations have one thing in common: they can't change stereo to surround sound. They just degrade the audio quality without expanding the soundstage at all. I can't say the same for the GSX 1000. Although it might degrade audio quality in 7.1, it certainly broadens the soundstage.

@@retagainez Incorrect, you have two ears, a properly done virtualization done based off HRTFs will work correctly. You need IEM tuned go diffuse field to properly make use of this. Better(but incredibly difficult would be go get your own PHRTF like mesh2hrtf does) Listening to diffuse field EQ'd IEMS it's insanely convincing. The issue with these isn't the implementation, it's the fact the require measurements of your exact unit and your specific HRTF to work perfectly. Though, averaged HRTF tuned earbuds also work.

Dolby Atmos and Sennheiser GSX is the best here. Audio transition from channels is smooth, unlike the other where they just tried to simulate 7.1 speakers around you, these two are simulating the sounds in game without translating it into 7.1 speakers setup. Just listen closely, the rest of them have skipping between channel, for example from left channel then jump to left back channel, there are no in-between. TLDR get dolby atmos or sennheiser gsx

I've tried DTS free trial, they have no boosted bass but the sound is a more roomy compared to Dolby, I don't like the roomy sound, feels like you are in a room with big surround speakers instead of being in the game. For movies it's up to you, if you don't mind slight bass boost, go for Dolby atmos

CMSS 3D sounds the best to me. I haven't seen that term in a long time... not since I had an Audigy 2. But, yeah, I've been through the Dolby Atmos free week trial (ended a couple of days ago) and am now on DTS:X Headphones 2 week trial. I don't know which I'll end up getting... if any. Truth is... it's overrated. The game needs the proper audio with binaural audio. Otherwise, it's just placebo if you ask me. And they all seem to lower the original audio quality in my experience... except CMSS 3D.

So... none of them will actually give you the precise location of the sound as they advertise. I played the random bits of this video with my eyes shut and tried to guess did the sound come from behind of before me, then looked. 50/50 I'd say. So all this is just another marketing bs. Stereo sounds best for me as audiophile, dolby sounds too blunted and muddy same stage as stereo. Windows Sonic is the only one where I felt there was a substantial difference in stage, yes there was more treble and sounded shit but not as shit as dolby and placed things a bit farther away.

Yes. Dolby headphones are actual headphones tuned by dolby and might have their software inside and atmos is software that can work with pretty much any headphones.

I can't tell the difference between Dolby Atmos and CMSS-3D other than the higher frequencies of CMSS. I rate Atmos #1 then CMSS #2 For accuracy I prefer the warmer Atmos, its a bit flatter and allows more flexibility with more dynamic audio imo. Higher frequencies can get way too much and overwhelm a user

Open back headphones with planar drivers offers the best spatial sond like Hifiman HE400SE, Sundara, Ananda etc. But open back headphones being open they doesn't offer sound isolation. But it's possible to have good spatial sound with high end IEMs.

@@unbiasOrbit HRTF in valorant has been tested & compared to others. IMHO, it sounds like garbage... possibly the worst, out of the ones I saw tested, in a YT video. Reddit agrees. Windows Sonic sounds much better than all of the others, that I heard... except for Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos sounds considerably better than Windows Sonic. I spent $15 on Dolbly Atmos... it's worth it, IMHO... but Sonic is just fine. You can't use hrtf + another one on, or it'll sound very bad... so be sure and disable that... then test out Sonic. You'll like it, much better. You're welcome.
