Thank you so much for the value, Pat! As expected your channel lives up to its name!! 🙌 Lessons: 1. Game Theory - The prisoner's dilemma. Think of the consequences of the decision and how you respond to them. 2. Worst Case Scenario Analysis - Can you live with the worst outcome of the decision. 3. Value and Principles - Analyse if the decision aligns with your life values and principles. 4. Get Great (Objective, experienced, reasonable & unbiased) Counsel. 5. Consider your Alternative(s). 6. Decision Fatigue - Avoid making big decisions when fatigued! Sleep on it if you can. 7. Stick with your decision - Once you've made your decision, stick to it!

0:14 - The meaning of decision in Latin is to cut away from the past. 0:31 - Making tough decisions is often difficult because we are cutting away from certain aspects of our lives. 1:00 - Using game theory can help us make tough decisions with the biggest odds in our favor. 2:01 - The prisoner's dilemma is an example of game theory where we have to weigh the risks and rewards of our decisions. 3:29 - Consider the worst-case scenario and ask yourself if you can live with it before making a tough decision. 4:01 - If a decision doesn't align with your values and principles, it's best to move on. 5:58 - If an opportunity comes your way but it doesn't match your values and principles, move on. 6:34 - Get great counsel from someone who is neutral and reasonable in their decision-making process. 7:58 - Always consider your alternative options before making a tough decision. 8:48 - Avoid making major decisions when you are fatigued, as it may cloud your judgment. 9:54 - Once you make a decision, stick to it and avoid second-guessing yourself.

he talks about considering worst case and deciding whether to join the military and go to war. worst case is not death. worst case would be a injury that prevents you from functioning normally for the rest of your life....and there are thousands of veterans to look at if you want to know what could happen. that is a tough decision.

What works for me in terms of having an alternative is to write down the pros and cons of the decision. It's called the Benjamin Franklin method of making decisions. If the pros is greater than the cons then I will execute it. If the cons are greater then I will pass. Ofcourse it works the best by taking in everything what Patrick said. :)

Another thing that came as an Ah moment from this video. Is once you’ve noted worst case scenario and you’re cool with it, quickly note the best case scenario. You are a very smart guy, intelligent, wise, logical. I learn much listening to you. But there's one big thing you omit - the spiritual element. I often consult my guardian angel who guides me even when I don't ask. This angel has literally saved my life a few times when I was about to do something stupid. It is wise to ask and listen carefully to your angel. You know what I mean. Sometimes getting what you want is the booby prize.
