Last week in our staff meeting, I asked everybody, "Can you tell me why I require every single one of us to read a book a month? Why have I done this for the last seven-and-a-half years?" Answers ranged from me wanting them to improve to reading the same books brings us together. While great answers, the big answer is that I want them to make more money. Reading books help you advance in your career.
In this video, I get into the following three things you need to do to advance in your career:
Attitude: 1:13
Effort -3:17
Progress - 5:11

If a employee has : A good attitude , effort , progress These companies say that this is the best company to work for in the world ( which is not true and in reality is toxic ) , where they fail is they do not practice what they preach. Too many excellent employees that have potential are actually leaders leave these companies like a vicious cycle. Employees terminate the company. Companies do not terminate the employees. These employees with potential look for greener pastures elsewhere. What is needed is excellent companies with excellent leader ship with opportunity to advance. Employees go home to their love ones relating the truth about their employer and have a sit down with their sons and daughters saying do not work for this type of our employer do not be there for a very long time because it is wasted time. It is best to look for a better employer

I can do all three. Actually, I started my job with being enthusiasm, working hours for free. Came up with idea to improve work. As result, my coworkers attacked me “ only, do it we asked to do it.” They said this because I was the newest. The boss offended me, my culture, and background. As result of his action, I don’t care about work anymore and just do what I ask to do. The video is good but it is BOTH side employer and employee. If you want to have a personal that has all this quality, you must treating them with respect and being their mentor nit just a boss!! The main point is don’t work for ass holes!!

This is so true. I have working with a company for last 5 years. Initially it was tough, had couple of failures. But rather than quitting, I chose to stay with the same company and work on myself. In last 3 years, management has 3x my salary, gave 2 promotions and awaiting the 3rd one coming March.

Effort, don't forget to put in your effort at home when spending time with family. You won't be able to do that if you put in 16hrs a day constanly . Job is not the only and most important obligation in life. So we need to kinda balance in all aspects of our lives. peace out guys.

Prob same place bc this vid is garbage. Either there are just a ton of actually lazy people who do nothing who need to hear this, or he is just trying to push the corporate narrative of work harder and harder and harder because that’s is how you move up while the people who kiss ass and are buddy buddy who do nothing get promoted around you. If you are the hardest/ bestworker they will leave you in the position to do all the work, it doesn’t make sense to promote the best and hardest worker and have to replace them. You do not need competent management at that point either, so just give it to someone you like more.

@2:00 You're right in that there might be something wrong when a guy has changed jobs frequently but it's not always the guy's fault. I recently changed my job because among other things my former company was too late to offer me a raise. It was after I said I wanna leave when they started to regret it and tried to keep me but my new offer was just too good and it was too late so I declined thankfully. But I left on good terms, they told me the door is always open for me and having a positive attitude is one of the easiest things for me. I'm always positive, I make my colleagues and bosses laugh etc. and I never say a single bad word about anyone, even when others do all the time. Everyone loves working with me. But there are also entrepreneurs and managers who aren't as smart and observing as you. There are many companies who lose good people all the time because they wouldn't give them enough.

there's many other variable on why ppl keep changes jobs quite often..rather than looking at "attitude" as a cause. Ever heard of contractual terms job/role? It takes two to tango, either an employee himself or the employer. It needs to be more specific when we were looking at it.

As a manger, I really, really hate people who always make excuses. Don't explain why something happened, tell me how you will fix it. Side note, a few topics that I personally would enjoy your take on would be; how you motivate your employees, and how to best protect your new invention/business ideas (besides patents and copyright etc.) when dealing with investors.

Thanks for sharing! I definitely liked your points and enjoyed the advice. However, I disagree with the example given for the effort, staying constantly over assigned duty hours. Some are just doing it because they are not able to have the work done on time. Good leaders would rather look at the effort in terms of efficiency and teach their teams how to keep a healthy work - life balance.

My last salary job I had I lived there! And we turned that store around way better numbers less theft less damages with out going over labor. I love moving up. I quit jobs because I can't move up.
