Literally 5 minutes working with this tool and I feel like it just made a missing piece in my mechanics click. I was getting 50ms late, and I've always felt like "why when I swing some opponents do I just feel so slow", now see how much better it feels when I hit a perfect or 20ms rather than the retrospectively rather bad overlap I've been having. Small correction: Wooting's SOCD and Rappy Snappy are two different features. Rappy Snappy simply activates the key that's pressed down the furthest, whereas SOCD works just like Snap Tap, overriding the other movement key if you press one down, even if that other key is down further.

2700 ELO tested multiple scenarios, and got different results depending on the context, which makes sense, as the nature of each scenario is different. - Deathmatch (1515 total - 55.23% early, 40.92% late, 3.83% perfect) - Aimbotz, 90 degrees, 4/5 distance, only 2 static bots, always moving between kills/shots (1501 total - 63.42% early, 29.45% late, 7.13% perfect) - Mirage preaim map by lmtlss, hard difficulty runs (1507 total - 69.94% early, 23.03% late, 7.03% perfect) So when anyone out there is comparing any stats, make sure to compare the comparable. When snap tap was still legal, it felt like I didn't benefit from it. It actually felt like it negatively impacted my performance, simply because it made me move differently than what has become second nature over the span of ten thousand hours. However, that is not to say that I could not benefit from it ever, but I do think it would probably take an unreasonable amount of time to really be able to reap the benefits.

Hey Martin, cool video! I have been using an Apex Pro for over a year when the SOCD update came out, i tried it for a week or 2 before it got banned. It cost me 3 days to get used to it, but after it got banned it took me muuuuch longer to get used to no SOCD again. It made some deagle shots easier, but for some reason, i whiffed the awp (and bhops) for a few days when enabling it.

Thanks for sharing! I heard similar story from more players, so you are definitely not alone.

I tried the beta firmware on my Apex Pro as well and couldn't tell it was activated unless I really looked for it. I guess it really does depend on your current habits, interested to see if maybe I'm a very early releaser because of this, will test when I can. I actually think rapid trigger (which I also use on the apex pro) is a huge help too. By having the key release as I _begin_ to raise it I become an earlier releaser. I wonder if there's a correlation between switch / keyboard used and therefore actuation height and release timing. Our fancy hall effect switches give us the benefits of a deep and shallow actuation in one key which I love.
@tobiasbouma40715 ай бұрын
@@OliverCaldwell I don't doubt that the way the keyboard registers inputs will contribute to the movement relayed to the system, since the overlap between key being released to the key baseline is eliminated. I lost about 8 ms of "counter-strafe timing" from changing to a Wooting compared to a logitech G915.
@Flare974 ай бұрын
@OliverCaldwell yeah I think rapid trigger has way more impact (for most people that already can counterstrafe on a decent level). But I don't consider RT cheating. Hope Valve and ESL see it as the same. Tbh I'm happy that snap-tap is gone, but im sad the jumpthrow binds had to die with it. Don't see how a button that has "-attack";"-attack2" bound is decreasing the skillceiling. I have not a lot of trouble with throwing the smokes "normally" but I saw it as a QOL thing

I used Snap Tap for a week or so before it got banned. It helped me a lot for reaction shots, where you're surprised to run into some player out of position in your 5v5, then you have a good chance of killing since you can stop so efficiently. Other than that, I didn't really notice a difference. Very surprising: according to Patrick's utility, I'm *both* an early and a late releaser, with a 2/3rds account of late and 1/3rds early, and about 5% perfect 0ms counter strafes. Would love to see stats on other players (especially those with pedigree!). On that note, my stats from the DM sesh just now: Median: 15 ms, Avg 26 ms, StDev 36 ms

I used leetify counter-strafing % to check my counte-strafing percentage. The number depended on the game pace. In games that are faster paced the counter-strafing performance went down. I compared the numbers with pros and confirmed that most of the time their counter-strafing performance was 90%+. However, there were occassional games, where everyone in lobby had lesser percentages, most likely due to different pace of the game (fast, yolo +W pug). I will definitely try to check this tool to see if there are any inconsistencies and in which way - either early or late should I improve. Quick Pistol DM session (rifles would be better sample I guess ...): Total samples: 365 Early: 63 Late: 299 Average late: 32ms (with std deviation 16ms, so average is pretty relevant stat)

Great video, i think that things like this are great for players that want to really push themselves to be their best. Although i think this program could be improved even further because whilst it may be analysing the ms between switching from A to D (or vice versa) it isnt covering the actual time you are tapping the alternative key to counter the strafe. If you are hitting perfects on this it doesnt necessarily translate to perfect counterstrafing as you are required to press the opposing direction for a set amount of ms to actually "counter" the strafe speed, now whilst I do not know this number exactly I'm sure its dependant on what weapon youre using as selected weapons affect your movement speed (in turn affecting the amount of ms required to press the opposing key because if the speed is higher you need longer on the opposing direction) just an extra consideration but well done on this

Valve also can't ban you if you use hardware/software to introduce some level of variance in the "snap tap" (varianve that you won't even notice, but also valve can't ban you for). Given too loose variances, Valve can modt definitely ban you for your skill, as I'm pretty sure the detection of snap tap simply works by detection of said variance (and lack of) that has some level of leeway, which if you naturally go under, you still get kicked.

You can use the same idea to hit B hops with a space bar if you press "too early". I always think "try to hit the spacebar, so that if you miss the bhop, it doesn't feel embarrassing" (just a mental mnemonic so that I remember). Basically, hit the space bar early on your fall, so that if you fail, it doesnt register the press. If you press too late, you look like a prancing deer, just jumping, walking, jumping, walking, "embarrassing" looking. But once you learn this, you can hit some consistent hops like you're using a scroll wheel. Its like the difference between trying to shoot the exact bullseye of a target vs. trying to fill a meter to exactly 100%

Great retrospective! Slightly different spin on it, early releasers got no benefit from snaptap because they were not utilizing the tool’s ability properly, incorrectly even. To get the most out of snaptap in my opinion, you wanted to intentionally overlap A and D 100% of the time, removing the need to time the release of the initial movement key, so now the only thing you need to time is the release of the counterstrafe key. You were correct when you said you would need to relearn your counterstrafing muscle memory. You would be doing so because the skills being tested when counterstrafing have “changed” and simplified to how I described it above. Software which fundamentally changes a core gameplay aspect is a bad road to go down; I’m glad it’s banned!

Rappy Snappy isn't the same as Snap Tap. Wooting released 'Snappy Tappy'. Which is the same as Snap Tap + some extra SOCD features. Rappy Snappy uses the analog signal to check which key is pressed down the furthest, and only activates that key.

It would be a gamechanger for the 1.6 since there's a 100% inaccuracy since the first tick you moved, but we're not playing 1.6 for a 12 years now. Great utility by Zero anyways, the more trainers we have the better it gets. I wonder if someone's gonna implicate something like this in the game and we have strafe-trainers along with aim-trainers.

"Valve can't ban your skill" I'm not sure KennyS will agree after they banned his awp peeking skill by nerfing the awp back in the day😅 Valve can ban everything just because they want to. Valve don't care about the community and try to do stupid things so they look better in the eyes of the community. Why are there no cheaters in moba games, but there are cheaters in cs 25 years later. Valve are the ones who make it possible to cheat and punish innovative companies for their own incompetence. The right thing is to find a way everybody can use this option via the game options. As this is with 144+hz (that gives unfair advantage over 60hz players). Either lock the game for everybody at 100 fps and 60hz or let the people use modern technology.

For the people to understand, rappy snappy is not the same as SNAP TAP. SNAP TAP and SOCD are the same. (Both will cause a kick in CS2). Rappy snappy is working differently and it detects the key you pressed further. Let's say you are holding A at 1 millimeter, but then you press D (without letting go of A) at 1.1 millimeter and keyboard will prioritize D in this situation. Then you can press A at 1.2 millimeters to be registered, and so on and on. And yes, snap tap is cheating. I was using "null binds" before, like many other people, at it was affecting my gameplay. In reality, you don't need snap tap or "null binds" to have great counter strafe, you just need magnetic keyboard.

But hall effect are not accurate... some 1.1 are 0.8 or 1.4, its all software after all I dont understand why valve banned it though. They could simply put a deaccel slowdown for input that happen withing 50ms, like if input happen at 20ms there will be 30ms added deaccel animation slowdown. Since deaccel already exist they could just increase it for very fast input
