Eventually the side of your engine will accumulate with oil and depending on the type of air filter you're running right into the filter clogging it over time. Also I found with my 2009 Honda Civic when I would run the defroster in the winter my cab would fill with gasoline fumes. I would not recommend anyone use these, just buy an oil catch can off of Amazon and some rubber tubing if you don't want oil going into your intake.

That is not a pcv delete. Lol the pcv valve is beside the alternator and has the tiny black hose connecting to the intake manifold. Remove the pcv 17 mm socket, plug the intake hole on the manifold then it is a pcv delete lmao.

A pcv catch can setup is the way to go not a breather. A breather system will allow blowby and oil vapor and byproducts of combustion to escape but only when there is enough pressure to force it out. A pcv system evacuates this and prevents all the byproduct of blowby to cling to all the metal components as everything is covered in oil and settle to the oil in the crankcase. This IS the actual cause of sludge in engine oil and on internals of the bottom end in an engine. It will also degrade your oil faster as the by products get into the oil. A catch can will allow the pcv to draw all this blowby out and at the same time filter it via steel wire and temperature change causing oil to turn to liquid and settle to the bottom while drawing out cleaner air back into the intake. For forced induction engine that can see boost pressure in the crankcase they make vented catch cans.
@HighBeams6 жыл бұрын
+5abivt Yeah you're definitely right a catch can setup is the most ideal. For me on a N/A setup the breather is good enough, but a catch can would be better
@5abivt6 жыл бұрын
HighBeamsCrew actually for NA , a breather ok and works but is better for forced induction because it prevents boost pressure building within the crankcase. Basically, all of the blowby you are getting .. very little is being pushed out from your breather *when pressure is high enough , and the rest is just swirling around in your crankcase and getting into your oil as nothing is sucking it out. How much of a difference is hard to identify as it depends on temps, oil types ,condition of rings and seal, what kind of motor and how effective the factory pcv system is etc etc. one thing you can try is to check out oil level and see if the oil is getting darker and more black much faster. Some catch cans are $150-100 I reccomend one for you instead of that small breather ;)
@HighBeams6 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are correct! The breather was only $25 so I had to go with that option lol

Sure, if the car likes flinging around oil get a catch-can/separator. However, he did one of the best things you can do for the engine: cap off the manifold-vacuum. Sure, it pulls blowby out, but it's also sabotaging the engine by stealing engine vacuum. By capping it off, you're going to have less blowby in the first place because there's now more vacuum available to engine & more fuller combustion & less waste. Also, the breather/fresh air-hose of from filterbox to the crankcase does most of the venting anyway... Instead of this "pcv breather" setup, connect a hose from the valve cover instead, and connect it to anywhere upstream of throttle body (but preferably after MAF). Put a catch-can in between if you like. The low vacuum at pre-throttle-body is more than enough to keep blowby out. If you decide to try this setup and you want to use a pcv valve for better hose-fitting, drill out the pcv valve's washer-ball check-valve mechanism so it's hollow.
@warrenzevonsangryghost60554 жыл бұрын
Hoping no one listens to this 'advice', since it's nearly all wrong. PCV's do NOT 'steal' engine vacuum. The only time the valve opens is when there's little to no manifold vacuum in the first place. Improper crankcase ventilation can be quite serious, leading to major sludge issues and even a (literally) blown engine. Beyond adding a catch can for blowby oil, don't screw with your crankcase ventilation setup. Bad juju.

That's the ccv side wich is important but much less important than the pcv side wich is located from block to intake manifold from the valve itself the ccv side only goes from valve cover to intake. route in either a catch can or do a vent to atmosphere setup with something that collects it I noticed you also mention it cleans it up but your gonna hat it when you have contaminates all over the engine bay

ok so where does it go...I have a quarter inch vac hose from fuel pressure regulator to my intake, then I have a 3/8" hose from my crankcase to my intake, and then I have one on the other side from the intake manifold to the PCV valve....do I put this on the crankcase and plug the intake and that's it? Nothing needs to go on the actual PCV valve?
@HighBeams6 жыл бұрын

Out and into the air under the hood of your car. Eventually the side of your engine will accumulate with oil and depending on the type of air filter you're running right into the filter clogging it over time. Also I found with my 2009 Honda Civic when I would run the defroster during the winter my cab would fill with gasoline fumes. I would not recommend anyone use these, just buy an oil catch can off of Amazon and some rubber tubing if you don't want oil going into your intake.

What is that pipe connected to, under the filter you have on? It runs from the intake to under the cover, you point at it but Iv not heard anyone yet say what it is on here 😂😂🙌🙌 thanks for any help bro
@HighBeams Жыл бұрын
Yeah 😅 people don’t really talk about it, but I think what you’re talking about it’s called the intake resonator. It comes stock on these cars. Extra piping to bring in air I believe. Cold air intakes remove it completely tho

@RobertKohut6 жыл бұрын
You only did a 1/2 PCV delete. In your example you only added a filter to the "clean" side of the PCV system. You need to find the line that goes from the other side of the throttle valve to the valve cover and remove and cap that. That line is the actual vacuum line and the filter you installed is only filtering air "drawn into" the crank case when the "vacuum line" sucks air out of the crank case. It should be easy to find. Just look for a line that is attached "after" the throttle valve, somewhere on the intake manifold, and goes to the valve cover. When this line is pulled off the valve cover there should be lots of suction when the engine is idling and should make the engine run rougher and might even stall. Then you will have a "PCV Delete" Right now you are still sucking in all the engine vapours like it came from the factory. The only thing you changed is where the "clean side" get's it's fresh air from.
@HighBeams6 жыл бұрын
Damn, very interesting I never knew. You might be right, I'll look into this.

Well I can't show you on this engine but if you watch my video the principle is the same.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5zTe4WiZZ2HhpY Just keep in mind that both the vacuum side and "clean" side need to be addressed to do a PCV delete.
