My brother watches you all of the time and suggested I write to you for advice. I have a HYUNDAI Sonata 2013 with just over 80,000 miles. I just had all of the 6 recalls repaired in May 2019 (wasn't aware of the recall until the car stalled in the middle of a very busy intersection and the police helped push my vehicle). My brake lights had been blowing out every 2-3 months and I was always unaware unless notified when pulled over by police officers or other drivers. I had new bulbs placed during the recall repairs May 2019. Today, I was stopped again by the police regarding no brake lights/tail lights so I went back to the same Hyundai dealership. I was told and shown that the bulb sockets had melted and I could see that they were completely fried and had a dark brown color. The cost to repair the entire issue (harness, wiring, etc.) was just over $500.00!! I was unable to pay that amount and the dealershipship had to order the parts anyway and informed me that there was a potential fire hazard if my bulbs were left inside the socket. The mechanic disconnected the bulbs and I questioned how this could not be under a recall of some sort since I did nothing to cause the problem and for a potential fire right by the gas tank, understandably I am terrified. I called the Hyundai corporate office and asked for some financial assistance as it did not seem fair that I should pay this amount out of pocket. The individual at Hyundai corporatewas helpful and stated that the issue is the Brake Stopper Pad and is covered under warranty. I went back to the dealership, put the call on a 3 way with the manager, the Hyundai corporate representative and me to discussed the issue. It now seems that it isn't ths Brake Stop Issue but to be honest, I don't know if anyone knows. I did make it known that I have purchased 9 different cars in my lifetime and have never had an issue that could cause bodily harm and or death based on melting electrical circuits. I apologize for being long winded but am really afraid to drive the car. Because I was so upset, the dealership asked me to bring the car back to the dealer on Tuesday and the manager states he will call Hyundai to ascertain whether they can repair the car with my having to pay for the problem. At least everyone has been nice appear to be trying to resolve this issue and help me out. Do you have any idea as to what the issue might be. Any suggestions or information you can provide and that I can research will definitely be a great help. I value your opinion and thanks so much in advance for taking the time to read my message and thanks for being a blessing to others that you are likely to never meet in person. Olga

I have seen that before when someone puts in the wrong light bulbs. That may damage the sockets. As for it setting the car on fire there is a fuse that will burn out before that happens.I would ask the dealer to just replace the sockets. Can you send me a picture of the damaged sockets?

Jim do you ever use any electric impacts to remove bolts? It makes for quicker repair.
@jimthecarguy5 жыл бұрын
Actually I always use the air impact at the shop but on the valve cover I like to do the by hand. Thanks for watching.

i want to see the rear side right, and left on the cover. these are behind that I can not see. showing the rear left and right might help me to unscrew those need to be done. and that is the purpose I want to watch this. this one show things at the front that are obviously to do and understand and are not the key point.

Nice vid but are you doing this repair on the side of a highway? Way too much noise drowning out key parts!

What tool can you use if you don’t have the proper tool for the spark plug seals cause there hard to put new ones in
@jimthecarguy4 жыл бұрын
They can be challenging without the seal driver . Can you borrow one from a bog box store. They do lend tools.
