21:38 you can't 'even hold them', you absolutely MUST hold them using a spanner if you don't want your cam ends cracked. the cam locking tool is not supposed to be used for undoing the gears. it's only for positioning the cams, it's clearly stated in the manual.

Very interesting, thanks. Tell me, can going to 6500 rpm while accelerating damage these engines with 250,000 km? The oil is clean, the engine was warm. Did it about 10 times on a hard drive.

To avoid confusion, state which engine it is and write its type. The fact is that the X18XER does not have hydraulic valve lifters so that viewers are not misled.

Does LDE (F16D4) engine 1.6 have valve lifters or not? There is in manual: Adjust valve clearance each 150k km.

22:42 The black plastic sleeve on the left----apparently the clattering noise I'm getting after doing a head gasket job on this vehicle is due to that sleeve not being installed. Now I have to take it all back apart again. Do I have to fill those camshaft gears/phasers with oil when I put them back in?

this isn't a Z18XER, they don't have hydraulic lifters, neither do A18XER. this must be something like P18XER or U18XFR.

@@dar1020 of course they are hydraulic and of course there are engines I mentioned. look it up first before commenting. I've got a z18xer, I did valve clearances in it, I know how a solid lifter from that engine looks like.
