That Caraboa cup win last year could have been one of the most important cups we ever won for just these reasons.....all the best youngsters around will take LFC as a serious option.....

The academy set up at Liverpool is one of the best around. They have strict rules around income, the cars they eventually drive and their behaviour. Moving the first team to Kirkby from Melwood was also a master stroke, as the players from every age group can physically see the end goal when the first team players are in the same building. They also rotate a number of U18 players that are moved to train with the first team, which introduces them to the standards set by the likes of Mo, Virgil and Trent and also shows them where they need to get to to become part of the first team. I’m lucky enough to have coached a few youth players that have moved into Premier League academies, with one actually playing a couple of first team games for Liverpool, so I’ve been there many times and seen first hand the standards they set.

@MerhawiSamsonHi mate. Sorry, I was an amateur coach quite a few years ago that managed a team that was lucky enough to play in a very good league set up (the biggest junior football league set up in the world, I think) and tournaments that were visited by many scouts. I haven’t coached now for a number of years. What I will say though is to make sure that you play as often as you can at the best level you can and the scouts are more likely to spot you if you’re good enough. Failing that, I’m sure that most professional clubs offer open trial days, so you could also contact the clubs directly yourself and ask for a trial. One other piece of advice I will give is to try and find your nearest Futsal team and join them. Futsal is a great way to develop your individual core skills and playing in national tournaments will not only pit you against some of the best players around, it is also great exposure to other scouts around the country. Most importantly of all though is to keep enjoying playing football. A very small number of players make a professional career out of playing football and an incredibly small percentage of them play at the top level. Don’t get too disheartened if it just doesn’t happen for you, as there are also many other careers around football that you may also enjoy. Good luck!

facts...to me he has the potential of Nkunku....although he has similar agility to KM amd NJ...if he learns how to agile dribble he would be dangerous in the CAM....good player btw!!

It’s not just Liverpool will offer him a route to the first team. There’s also a great setup in the youth’s. They don’t like any big heads and throw money at them. Parents picked clever here imo.

LOL. What are you on about? You count a bunch of youngsters who have a handful of appearances between them in Liverpool's 13, then only name three who have made Chelsea debuts in recent seasons. Are you not aware that Chelsea's youth team dominated much of the last decade, winning seven FA Youth Cups and twice Uefa Youth League Champions. Let's just forget the 17 academy products that made their Chelsea debuts in the last three seasons. Full England internationals in recent years include Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Reece James, Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher,, Levi Colwill, Dominic Solanke. Others have been capped at Under 21 level or for other international countries like Broja for Albania. Seven former Youth team members won a Champions League medal in 2021. The point is that claiming young players don't get a chance at Chelsea is ludicrous. You literally couldn't have picked a worse example. The PL and other top leagues around Europe are littered with players who came through Chelsea's youth system. Maatsen at Aston Villa, Lewis Hall at Newcastle, Musiala at Bayern Munich, Nathan Ake at Man City, Tariq Lamptey at Brighton plus many more. Chelsea have the youngest squad in the entire PL so yes, they give more chances to youngsters than virtually everyone. Whether they establish themselves or not at Chelsea is down to them. But they get quality coaching which means that youngsters going through Cobham have a better chance than anywhere else of making a good career in professional football. Why do some players still leave despite a clear pathway to the first team? In most cases, rival clubs are tempting them away with more lucrative contract deals. At such a young age, it's a gamble but clearly one Liverpool felt worth taking.

@oyetunjivictor1009 He didn't come through the academy though. He played senior games for Fulham in the championship, was offered a massive deal to join real madrid , and turned them down to come to Liverpool, he was then used in the U21 team, sent out on loan for a while and then came back and forced his way into the first team . You can hardly call elliot an academy graduate
@ralf-5
@ralf-5 5 ай бұрын
He played in the academy so technically he is an academy graduate. A little pedantic I know. Lots of liverpools youngsters are like this. The academy basically serves a finishing school for top talent from around the country. For example Bobby Clark came from Newcastle.
@joeexotic5831
@joeexotic5831 5 ай бұрын
@rickys7435 Ohh I agree it is pedantic, but technically correct I suppose. I deem an academy graduate to be one that starts at the club and isn't brought in towards the end of their apprenticeship like Harvey and Bobby Clark for example, but technically I suppose all that graduate from the academy to the first team would qualify too as you say

Players coming from the city that join as a child are always the gold standard academy player to me. Obviously it’s just incredibly difficult to do. Regardless it’s nice to see someone having a friendly chat on here without it breaking down into bickering! Anyway, I would have taken you for more of a Hull City fan!
