Actually Castlevania is really good except the new version in the 1800's. Vampire Hunter D is really good as well, Both. However D left a lot of things in the dark. No drive for D either in both movies

Agreed. Castlevania Nocturne was absolutely disgusting (and I don't mean the blood & gore). It was a painful political soapbox that misused its video game IP, similar to that terrible Ark animated adaptation earlier this year.
@ninjagoon817Ай бұрын
When the castlevania show came out everyone said it was the best video game adaptation of all time, I was curious and went to check it out after I did I realized that...... no it wasn't a good adaptation, now anyone is free to like what they like and can enjoy stuff as its own thing but objectively the castlevania show is not a good adaption of the game series, specifically Castlevania 3: Draculas curse and NES game, seriously how do you mess that up. The castlevania show made a lot of different changes from the source material like changing the personalities for most of the cast, getting rid of the 4th protagonists in favor of some vampire OC's, or how Trevor was the only one capable of killing dracula during that time, the castlevania show feels more like the Berserk anime or game of thrones instead of castlevania which makes sense because that was done on purpose, apparently this was all partly due to the head writer Warren Ellis who was also later fired after season 3 for misconducts. Someone once told me that vampire hunter D is a better adaptation of castlevania then the actual castlevania show itself and I can see that now, ironically I believe that Vampire hunter D was an inspiration for a few castlevania games, such as characteristics of D being used for alucard, like their designs and backstories being similar, and the gothic architecture of the castles. It seems as of the recent season of castlevania nocturne have caused fans to reconsider their stance on the castelavnia show or as some call it 'Netflixvania', while most still stand by seasons 1 and 2 being descent, most seem to agree that seasons 3, 4, and nocturne are pretty weak Regardless I would like to see a new vampire hunter D project some day and of course perhaps an accurate adaptation of the castlevania series, one of these day.
@TheBatman39Ай бұрын
Don't let yourself be discouraged by the number of Netflixvania fanboys getting angry at you because you didn't like that turd of a series that fanbase is like a cult basically. On the other hand, the Vampire Hunter movies are absolutely amazing, and the novels, which are based on written by Hideuki Kikuchi, are the peak of dark fantasy along with other media like Berserk or the Souls games.

haha no worry, I dealt with way larger fanbase this entire channel history. It's expected. Doesn't affect my stance. Appreciate the encouragement.

To me, Castlevania is crazy mediocre, and it blows my mind that so many people celebrate that show. It looks boring, feels mostly static, and has way too much meaningless dialog. I tried it several times, always dropping out bored at some point. The Vampire Hunter D remake, Bloodlust, is 100% more Castlevania than any other animation out there. Absolut masterpiece from start to finish, putting that Netflix show to shame, especially in regards of how much older it is.
@OverworkedITGuyАй бұрын
When you get beyond the Nostalgia, the original Vampire Hunter D anime isn't really all that good. I don't judge the animation, it's old and can't really be compared to the modern stuff. But the actual story itself is just kind of rambling and feels incoherent and largely incomplete. But iirc it's literally just a partial piece of a story from the manga so it was never really going to be a very effective single stand-alone narrative. Bloodlust, however is an absolute masterwork though. They clearly learned all the right lessons from the failings of the original when putting Bloodlust together. I like D in general as an action hero, but as a character he's really flat with virtually no actual personality. Which is really odd as literally everyone else in the D universe has their own distinct personality and motivations. Even the villains. ESPECIALLY the villains. If I had to pick between him and Alucard (or really anyone in the Castlevania franchise) D loses that contest every time. Everything just kind of happens AROUND D. But in Castlevania, everything happens BECAUSE of the main characters (both protagonists and antagonists). Even as good as Bloodlust was, you could slot almost any random nameless person in with a good physical combat skillset and get the same story. Castlevania just wouldn't be the same without Dracula, Alucard and the various Belmonts. Castlevania is exactly what it's supposed to be. An adaptation of the video game and the established world built in that game. It did a wonderful job of expanding on and incorporating elements from the various games and the established stories therein and expanded with some new concepts. Castlevania is great. Bloodlust is also great, DESPITE D, not because of him. The original Vampire Hunter D is a good bit of nostalgia but not all that good of a movie or story really.

I'd presume you are aware of the Castlevania game lore before watching the series as the series is an expansion of the original games. The series is MEANT for those who have played the game.If you know nothing of it, which sounds like you don't as you can't even recall Alucard, its clear as to why the whole narrative doesn't make sense to you. You're comparing a series over a full length film in which every bit of time is valuable to keeping the narrative tight and close to the main cast oppose to exploring more about the world in a series format. However, its fair that at least under the lenses of someone who has not or does not know of the castlevania games, you've given an honest opinion about it. If you do like Vampire Hunter, the 2nd movie Vampire Hunder Bloodlust is better.
@TheVillaousTerminaterАй бұрын
Are you certain? Because actually, I heard quite the opposite from people who've played the game. They're saying the series does huge disservice and has no connection to do the game in terms of lore and narrative. Even the designs are different. It was BASED on but not directly related. Secondly, this is the first of its franchise in TV/Show... it isn't a direct sequel to anything. It had a beg, mid, and end. Any series that relies on the knowledge of an outside source fails as show. A show has more time to expand on everything vs a film...It had more opportunities than VHD in most if not every aspect. I never mentioned the issue was anything related to a series form or it not elaborating on the lore??...did you watched the video at all?
@pallafoxАй бұрын
@@TheVillaousTerminater IDK who where you are getting this info or hearing fans hating the narrative or claiming this has no connection as its completely wrong. The first 3 seasons is a direct retelling of Castlevania 3 and connects it to the the history and later events of future games, most notably, symphony of the night, lament of innocence and curse of darkness. Although the producers and writers took some liberties to alter some storylines, its still true to the overall lore and story of the games. I watched the whole video and was intrigue and then dissapointed as clearly there was no research done to come up with a solid opinion on how the series was overrated.

@@TheVillaousTerminater I'm unsure if you're echoing an opinion or this is your genuine opinion of the show. It's hard to compare something you haven't finish and I do believe it's unfair. Not very based and sigma pilled of you bro. On god.
@TheVillaousTerminaterАй бұрын
@@pallafox You said it's a DIRECT retelling but then contradict yourself by saying it took liberties and alter the stories, I think a loose adaptation would be more accurate. And this is an adaptation...NOT a sequel which already dismisses your initial point. Does the show say it was "meant" for those who've played the game that came out over 3 decades ago? Not even mentioning that NONE OF that had anything to do with the issues that I stated which were all related to the characters...No offense buddy, but on top of the video, it also seems you did not even read my reply thoroughly either where I even expanded further and instead you latch on to the one thing that you can make a response on that wasn't an issue I had....Regardless, I rest my case here though.

you stopped after the defeat of dracula. no wonder you disliked the show. spoiler]]]]]]]]]], he comes back from the dead where he reunited with the love of his life. he is well written as a background chessplayer. he is not a forefront character like Trevor or Alucard.(playable characters in the game) I do have to agree with you that Alucard could be better written. He is too naive especially when he fell for the threesome with the twins. Vampire hunter D is a whole other show in terms of writing. It is more creepy, eerie, unforgiving, enigmatic. Castlevenia is a good time, occult and modern. There is nuances in both. But keep watching, because Dracula was not "defeated" he has other plans.
