12:05 YES! So many people don’t understand this, it’s nice to hear it from a respected player like yourself. People complain that BO3 is too long and they don’t wanna play the same deck back to back but they ignore the endless issues of BO1 - and bo1 plays the same decks back to back more so than bo3. At least bo3s game 2 and 3 are side boarded and way more interesting than the cut and paste convoke decks you endlessly see in bo1. Why more people prefer the dice roll format of bo1 will never make sense to me. What it boils down to is people are impatient and from their perspective bo1 looks like it’s a faster way to play and rank up. IMO bo1 magic isn’t a good magic experience, the games are too dependent on the coin flip, matchmaking, and they feel weird with the hand smoother.

Started as someone who only knew of Bo1 (my first mtg youtuber was CBG). I got a taste of Bo3 when watching some Saffron Olive and was intrigued by how much deeper the game seemed. Now I'm so glad I found Ash. CGB may be 'The 1 in Best of 1' but Ash is the Bestie of 3 😎

I saw the list in advance on Moxfield, and I tried it out yesterday before the video aired in my part of the world. Was able to draw a Push/ Pull to snag two Vein Rippers from the graveyard and swing for the win. It's a lot of fun! You make the best vampire decks, ghoul! Appreciate you. 🧛‍♂️🩸

Feed your sideboards some wild cards ! I can't play a lot and some days my brain can't handle the game, as such, every wildcard is very precious. Hadn't realized how much not having that part of the game was hurting my experience ! Biting the bullet and saying "ok, no new hehe decks for a while but sideboard options for my usual colors" was an excellent decision. After a few weeks I realized I'm not powerless against all those fine tuned decks that just crush me in Bo1. Also, hanging on Ash's channel has you pull the weird spikey card no one else uses. In Bo1, I couldn't pass platinum. In Bo3, I go to diamond or mythic with the same amount of monthly games !

Honestly Bo1 is a cursed land where people run way more interaction than they should, ever and it turns almost every game into a coinflip. I said this on a video a while ago but I'd love to see if Cookies has potential in Pioneer.

Best of 1 is a weird ecosystem, where things like mono white humans almost exclusively exists. Same with Selesnya enchantments and most graveyard combo decks, since they suffer too much after sideboards.

I sadly must say, that the deck isnt as viable as i hoped. Played bo3 and im really used to vampires and vainripper and pull but i lost 4 of 5 games. Maybe the meta isnt the same if u are higher ranked mythic iam only at 91%.... Another thing i wanted to ask: o i have the impression that the shuffler is harder in bo3. I often encounter no land or 6 land starting hand situations. A thing i dont really know from bo1. Anyone has some insight to this matter?

I won’t play BO3 mainly because I get extremely tilted if I’m in a losing position (or god forbid I run into some slow mo player). This leads me to get angry and subsequently make mistakes which no amount of sideboarding can fix. So I enjoy the game by playing BO1 with mostly home brews which are far away from the established popular archetypes. BO3 is not the holly grail everyone keeps preaching about and I’d probably end up in therapy IF I play that game mode.

When I played paper Magic when I was a lot younger, I had a lot of the same issues you're expressing, especially if I caught an opponent cheating. When it comes to games, I'm highly competitive. After a short while, I realized I had issues of my own to resolve, and at the behest of my family, I started going to therapy. This was around 20 years ago. I've been playing Arena for almost a year now after a 14-year hiatus. While I still get frustrated, especially if I get a bad hand or I make a blunder/ punt a play that could've won me the game, I'm more calm about it now. It's just s game when it comes down to it. If you're feeling frustrated, take a break. If your opponents are taking too long/ intentionally roping, you can request an inquiry to the Arena staff, and they'll look into it. If you're playing paper, call a judge over, and let them take care of the situation. If therapy could help a guy like me out, I really think it would benefit you, as well.

I was for different issues and that is fine, I appreciate the concern. When playing other generic games I can easily set difficulty to "easy" or something similar so I can relax and enjoy the story, but Arena is a different kind of beast. I think the variance factor of the game is what tilts me the most, as you can play your very best lines piloting a very good deck and still just simply lose to a random top deck or a string of never ending gas draws from an opponent who never draws a fifth land and just pummels you with threats. So if I want to completely chill I simply play Unranked Constructed or Brawl, as there's no penalty for conceding. Otherwise in Ranked Constructed I stick to BO1 as I can simply take a break to prevent myself from tilting. Which is my own way of therapy so I can still enjoy the game.

25:32 Pull is lethal here. Bringing back an epicure deals 1 damage, putting the opponent to 7, and gives another blood token so the Harvester can kill Aclazotz. Then, Epicure can swing with the team for 7 damage.

I dont play Bo3 because I dont get paid to play the game so I dont have 4 of every rare in the game.

Ash, you get paid?! Why didn't you tell the rest of us? 🤣 I'm not defending just Ash, but every content creator for the game has paid for their own collections out of their own pockets. Some work regular jobs, and work hard for those sponsorships and invitations to [insert streaming service here] so they can represent the game(s) that they love.
