Impressive layout and build. Although inconvenient to get from the living area to the driving area if you need to leave in a hurry. As others mentioned, be careful cooking with that bedding beside the stove. (I'd put a little 8 inch high partition between them.) You folks did all the work yourselves? Not sure where you learned how to do all of that, but you two have talent.
@loganseims7921
@loganseims7921 3 жыл бұрын
Having a 3 seater definitely has its pros and cons, all of which we considered during our build. We actually love it, especially for long road trips! So far we haven't had a need to leave in a hurry. I have thought of a swivel design that could allow the entire bench seat to rotate. (If I decide to put that much work into it). An 8 inch partition between the stove and bed would be an easy addition, something we'll keep in mind!

WOW . . . really NICE 🚐🚐, cool built and clever way to do things. Enjoyed this tour a lot, i bet you 2 have a GREAT time touring all over with it and it sure shows how enjoyable your trips must be! GREAT👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 2 things i would improve, the shower curtain replaced by sliding or regular opening door and the bench needs a bit of an extension incl. an fold up or pull out table. BUT, really nice van and ideas! 👌🏻👌🏻🤗🤗 1 personal thing, i forgot the name now, but if the 🧑🏼 would get some shorter hair, he's look less cool maybe, but so much more like a GREAT dude and less maintenance with it daily without the need of a wear of cap 🧢. 😉☺️ You 2 enjoy your trips and tours, it's Alaska, not Bavaria 🏔🌲⛰ ... so i'm just sending greetings to you from there. Firstly, love your van! I am interested in your water heater setup. I am contemplating on adding a hot water shower to my van, but not sure how to go about doing it. In your setup I did catch a glimpse of an exhaust vent on top of the roof and some duct piping going out of the water heater, but not sure how it's installed. I would love to see how you did your water heater installation. Thanks for sharing!
@LKseims
@LKseims 3 жыл бұрын
Since our fridge was also run on propane we installed a large-ish vent for that. So for the water heater we used duct piping to funnel the exhaust down and out the same side vent as the fridge! We'll try and post a more in depth plumbing video in the next week or two!:)

Van looks awesome. What did the conversion cost, and did you build from an established floor plan?
@LKseims
@LKseims 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! We ended up spending right around $7,000 on our conversion. And for the floor plan we based it off of several ideas from other van builds we liked! Just mixed and matched our favorite things:)

I did not see a vent on the roof for your Tankkess. How do you vent it to the outside?
@LKseims

We used aluminum ducting to vent the water heater via of the same outside vent the propane fridge uses!

Nice build! Love the shower and pine board! I am currently updating my van and would like to do pine siding too. Where did you get the pine tongue & grove slats? Also, I currently have one fantastic fan & an AC unit over the bed. I hv 2 windows on each side of the bed providing nice cross ventilation which I totally love (& have an AC over head). I'm thinking about replacing the AC with a 2nd fan to cool the van, but my partner thinks I should keep the AC. If doing again, would you stick with the double fan set up, or would you do an AC? Safe travels ~

@@1tlb0k61 Yay! Always fun to connect with other vanlifers:) And as for the AC, it totally depends how hot of areas you'll be going with your van. Texas in the summer? Haha oooh yeah an AC unit would be nice! But if you notice that you hardly use the AC unit you have now, a fan would be a much simpler installation 🤷🏼‍♀️

The mattress looks dangerously close to the stovetop. I can just see bacon splattering all over the bedding. What do you do to prevent that?
@LKseims
@LKseims 3 жыл бұрын
Haha we normally cook our bacon in the oven. (No splattering and it doesn't shrink up as much!) And don't worry, it's not as close as it looks! But we have considered building an additional fireproof gaurd between the stove and bed as well

We used FRP board for the shower walls! It's thin, light and easy to install. We are working on linking all the stuff we bought in the description of this video. I believe the shower items are all listed, and more will be added soon:)

Isn't it dangerous to have a propane tank under neath the van, in case you hit something (in rough terrain) that punctures it?
@LKseims
@LKseims 6 ай бұрын
It's higher up than our drive line, so the rough terrain would have to take that out first! Also the puncture would have to cause a spark as well or no flames occur. 🤔

Looks great. but I'm concerned that your water heater says on the front not to use in the room. It's mainly an outdoor water heater. And it could ignite your clothes hanging in the closet.

Hi Sean! We have solar as well, but we didn't want to completely depend on sunny days in order for our appliances to function! Especially because we brought it up to Alaska and there is not a lot of sunlight hours in the winters there

I think, for me, a slightly smaller shower. A larger closet. And I'd flip the kitchen so the oven was either in the middle or near the door. That way, if someone is sitting on the bench you butt is not in their face.

be very careful with the stove so close to bed if you have a pot on the stove and a breeze comes through can push flames from under pan and catch bed on fire. this happened to friends and burn trailer to the ground in minutes. Build a fireproof guard would not like seeing all your work go up in smoke.
@LKseims
@LKseims 3 жыл бұрын
Don't worry, it's not as close as it looks! The blankets in that corner stay cool to the touch even after quite a bit of cooking. We do keep a fire extinguisher under our sink, but it wouldn't hurt to build an additional fireproof gaurd between the stove and bed. Thanks for the recommendation!

@@LKseims I had the same concern when I first saw it. Maybe you could install the shield in such a way that you flip it up when you use the stove and flip it down & out of sight when you're not? Either way, it's a beautiful build! 💖
