@@vanhallaadventures There's a surprisingly high amount of young people watching the vanlife lifestyle. Especially when in the USA a house (even a #tinyhuse ) can cost a few hundred thousand dollars, to buy or to build, when you include all the taxes and checks one needs to pay for. And, worst case scenario, they can just up and leave the country, if things get Venezuala bad.
@jayne59brohammer3 жыл бұрын
@@SapioiT You scare me when you say get Venezuela bad. I keep thinking the same thing. I am a old woman & can't leave so easily. I pray things don't get that bad. With this administration who knows? God bless you 🙏
@SapioiT3 жыл бұрын
@@jayne59brohammer I honestly hope it will not get that bad, and it might not get that bad for the whole country (like if certain states decide to split off or to remain uninvolved), but at least having the option to fairly-quickly relocate to a far-off state with a well-insulated live-in van / box-truck / trailer would at least increase the chances of avoiding the worst situations. Having in your stocks a few big rolls of clingwrap, a few big rolls of scotch tape, a few dozen rolls of garbage bags, some hundred feet/meters of metal wire which you can bend with your hands but not easily, and a few lifestraw-like reusable water filters could make a big difference. The lifestraw for filtering water for cooking dried food (prepper mindset), and the rest for making a makeshift tent (or more). If you need to live in a place where you don't have enough insulation on your live-in vehicle, just set up a makeshift greenhouse/tent around the vehicle, and get some extra insulation that way. If things go past the tipping point, Canada and other english-speaking countries would be more likely to let in as a refugee someone who already has a place to live in, than someone who doesn't. Having showering and toilet conditions inside the vehicle, and thick insulation will make the difference. Skilled labourers would have priority, since they can produce more, but right after them would be the people who don't need housing built for them. Ideally, have some expensive watch which you could sell off in the new country in case the USD aren't worth much anymore, and maybe have some subtle jewlery away from the public eye, for the same reason, as backup finances.

This is quite possibly my favorite nomad / vanlife build I've seen. So many builds I've looked at seem for "show" rather than actual long-term living, but the way y'all maxed out the storage, thought and planned for details like the freezer-fridge storage (heck, the whole kitchen), the shower, that amazing 6/1 dinette couch, the charging station, and everything else for the nitty-gritty of actual life just amazes me. How y'all were able to fit an entire apartment into your van without making it feel cramped is pure sorcery. This is a beautiful build. I agree with the others that y'all should look into commissions or something.

Love the van and video! Especially the compact kitchen with the cutting board and dish dryer, saved a screeenshot for future builds! One safety tip; Here in Holland they recommend hanging a Carbon monoxide meter on 'breathing height'. By the time it goes off at the ceiling you are probably already passed out when you sleep. Might be good to look into for safety, also regards placement next to doors etc. Enjoy your travels!

You have definitely created one of the more cozy van conversations I have ever seen and I have watched hundreds of videos like this. If I was younger, not disabled, and didn’t have the ridiculous number of crazy health issues I would have loved converting a van into a camper/ mobile tiny home. I grew up camping each summer and loved exploring new states and places in the mountains on the east coast and cross country. I don’t know how my parents did it with 5 children and later 7 children and a dog. Plus there was usually at least one child in cloth diapers. Dad converted a boat refrigerator to work off a huge battery in the back of the large Dodge van and later the Chevrolet Suburban along with a large wooden box he built to store everything needed to prepare any meal and more. Great memories.

I am overwhelmed. When I was a child in the 50's and 60's my father built two types of campers and a cabin cruiser for the lake. We camped all across the U.S. The cabin cruiser was for the lake close to our hometown. Later we cleared land and built a cabin outside a national forest. The children in our old neighborhood were always filled with wonder watching him built these things in our yard or garage. Later they attended his funeral and talked about the many things they learned from the man at 1117. The cabin was so secluded it could not be reached by the roads. Just had to know the trees to drive through. After about 5 years we had to give it up as bank robbers and such would hold out from the law when we weren't there and stole our belongings. Good luck to you and keep thinking up more covey holes.

I just started watching van conversion videos and just when I was ready to give up on the idea I saw your video that actually includes a well thought out bathroom. I was surprised to see so many without a complete bathroom (toilet for #1 and 2 and a shower.) So thank you for showing what you did. I don’t mind losing some space. Can’t imagine using public or campground restrooms or a gym whenever we have to do our business.

I think that's a really great idea! I'd love to just pull a little vintage mini-camper for crafts and maybe to double as a guest and movie-watching room. I'd put a little comfy couch in there to lounge on, which would make the main van more roomy without the need for a couch. Hmmmmm.....zo many ideas!

What a great conversion! And what a simply brilliant idea to use your cushions for clothes storage! Fabulous! On the scary side though, I sure wouldn't be using that butane burner so close to that curtain - maybe make a chopping block to fit the drawer and place on that side to act as a shield when you're cooking. Love to you both from Oz - what a happy couple!

Carbon monoxide detectors need to be mounted low, like head height when you are in bed. Twice the alarm saved my life. Stayed a few days after to detox body, one effect of even mild exposure is slowed reflexes.
@vanhallaadventures3 жыл бұрын
@@meman6964 I seriously appreciate your concern about our placement. However, we don’t have anything that would create carbon monoxide while sleeping. I found info on www.epa.gov regarding this topic. “Because carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and also because it may be found with warm, rising air, detectors should be placed on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. The detector may be placed on the ceiling. Do not place the detector right next to or over a fireplace or flame-producing appliance.”

So far I think this is the best conversion into a lovely van home that I've ever seen, all of it from their amazing esthetic tastes, to the curtains made by an aunt and her friend making the exquisite Bali shower curtain, I love their home! I am amazed at what you have both created, I would live in this van in a minute. The genius of stuffing clothing/items into pillows, the laundry hidden compartment, all of the unique little shelving spots for books and keepsakes....the wood....oh I love wood, the whole set up is brilliant, I'm curious as to the cost with the perfect electrical components.
