Van Halen were incredible during the David Lee Roth years ❤

1984 was such a great album. All killer, no filler.

I LOVE 1984 but “I’ll Wait” always felt like the one filler song and I always skip it.

@@RaineFilms Never considered it filler, myself, but I can see your perspective.

@@adolpholiverbush2 it just felt like a song to get on the pop radio charts. Same with the covers on Diver Down.

Van Halen were the definitive Rock band of the late 70's, early 80's! They sounded and looked great! David Lee Roth is a great sounding bluesy singer much like Louis Prima!

As a Rock guy teenager in the 70's, Van Halen blew my mind. I can't pick a favorite album when you consider VH I, II, Women and Children First, Fair Warning, Diver Down then 1984. Everything after that was Van Hagar which IMHO was different and their own thing and I appreciate it for what it was no disrespect. But the original VH is the GOAT.

Yep, Van Hagar and Old Van Halen are two different bands to me, and only one of those stood the test of time and stayed on top! Their songs are like beautiful women- tough to compare, and the most amazing is whichever I am currently experiencing!

1984 was an amazing album, but it was also my main yard mowing music from it's release to the early 90s, and my father had a giant yard, so I have a Pavlovian urge to strut behind a mower listening to this song...ha. Another song on this album, "I'll Wait" had its lyrics punched up with the help of Michael McDonald, btw.

Yeah, man! VH can definitely give you more rock than you bargained for in a fairly short amount of time. Even in the quite polished production on _1984,_ they can still hit you with just the right degree of rawness.

His outro guitar solo is on another level....One of my all time favorite examples of Eddies genius:) If only we could hear the entire studio track without the fade-out.....Think about how much goodness we could hear!

This album spawned 4 huge radio hits , but the rest of the album is fire too. This song , “House of Pain” , and “I’ll Wait” we’re 3 of my favourites on the album , and they weren’t even the huge hits.

When Eddie drags that rhythm on the right channel at the end, that's pure sludgly badassery. BDE, as they say.

One of Van Halen’s best IMO - what a groove! Also love your comparison to the Stones too. I agree 💯! Speaking of the Stones, I recently reacquainted myself with Crazy Mama off their Black and Blue album. Really dirty guitar work on that one and Jagger really howls! I think you’ll love it 🤘

I heard that blues influence as well and it immediately reminded me of Aerosmith. You could have sold this as an Aerosmith song to me if it wasn’t for the vocals.

They were my #1 in high school (I'm 60). Now I'd prefer to hear The Doors or George Harrison, y'know? But we haven't heard Ice Cream Man yet, have we? The Dave Years were just raw in music and lyrics. Very late 70s.
