Great video Marty, you have shared so much with us - thanks. A tip for opening these boxes, the best tool is a heavy guitar pick! Slide it down each of the long sides with a EVH worthy slide, and then gently cut the top and bottom. I was lucky enough to find a sealed copy of the original Balance for 100.00 6 years ago. Keep up the good work

I've been eyeing off the CD box sets. But, I think I have to go Vinyl! I don't have a record player, but have a mate who's an ex-DJ, from back in the day when it was done with records... I think I need to hit him up on advise on a good and affordable record player to give them the justice they deserve... I bet I get hooked, then start tracking down Led Zeppelin, Hendrix and all the Greats on record... 💰😬

There's nothing like putting the needle on a record and being excited in anticipation when about to listen to a great record. Done it so often as a kid, couldn't wait to get out of the record store , home and after a stiff smell of the vinyl getting it on to the turntable. And i always think that instruments sound better on vying, particularly the guitar sounds. Enjoy man😊

After listening to the CDs through a detail-revealing CD player, I heard “a lot” more detailed and textured guitar…that came at the expense of dynamics and headroom. This is most apparent on 5150. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge has much beefier guitars and solid drums…yet has lost some of that “spank.” OU812 is improved overall, but some tracks needed to be remixed…like Mine All Mine, AFU, Source of infection. The highlights from the package, in therms of improved sound quality are : Summer Nights, Feels So Good, Man on a Mission, Top of the World.

The vinyl pressing of Van Halen “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” from the latest box set has a mastering/pressing flaw which causes horrible distortion and the right channel dropping out on “Right Now”, “316” and “Top Of The World”. Myself and a lot of people are having this same issue. Some have returned copies and got replacements which do the exact same thing so it has to be a problem with the stamper. Sadly I’m afraid the entire run will be problematic and a new lacquer will probably be needed to be cut again. It’s very noticeable if you were to pull a copy and play it yourself - especially on “316”.

It comes out after his passing because this stuff got ignored for yrs, how is it a cash in when it hasnt been done before aside from a japan only release that wasnt official. they remastered the roth stuff on three different occasions in 2000, 2013, and 2015 that shit seems more like a cash grab than anything

I don't understand why someone hasn't made a ring of that logo, if I did I would bring the actual ring itself down into the center of it more so that the point won't poke in the finger or get caught on stuff but it would make a badass ring.

Marty I did a setup on a jazz bass Squier beautiful guitar candy apple red and I got a deal on a Dean Exile fr $200 smackers for doing the setup and it's brand-new it wasn't even played I wish I could send you a picture of it. As soon as I got it I change the strings I treated the fretboard set up the Floyd set up the action set up the relief as f****** Qatar plays like a dream I love it I wish I could play better but I will in time
