"It's cultured and raw, but I'm making no sense whatsoever..." You're making total sense, don't worry.

I was just looking around for music reactions and happened to come across your channel. You had a very good reaction to the song. I don't know if I misunderstood what you said, but it sounded like you said this was their first studio album? Maybe I heard you wrong. But just in case I did hear that, this is actually their third studio album. They were signed to Warner Bros in 1977 and their first album came out in 1978. Great songs on those first two albums too. Especially the first one. Their first tour was with the band Black Sabbath. Gene Simmons from the band Kiss is the one who first discovered them in Calif. in a bar called Stars. Being a songwriter, musician and vocalist myself I played in several different bands over the years and when we did covers we used to a few Van Halen songs and this was one of the ones that we would play. Anyway, I like your channel. Thanks.

Glad you're back. Great classical kick ass American Rock song with every instrument and vocalized sounding perfect! Lush texturous sound. Very catchy and uplifting! A real shot in the arm! By the way on the whiskey subject, The Who had an older 60's song named "Whiskey Man"!

Good job of acknowledging Michael Anthony. His sound was a tone setter for Eddie and David.

Haven't heard this song in 40 years. Are you doing Van Halen deep cuts? If so, I request Outta Love Again and Hear About it Later.

Remember buying this album when i was a teenager, and was so pleased to see it had a poster enclosed, until I opened it, instead of the band it was just Diamond Dave bare chested and bound to a wire fence, (one for the female fans I think ?) never did go up on my bedroom wall it wouldn’t sit well next to my Rush, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Hawkwind, Who, posters.

This is another example of why the DLR years were far superior to the Sammy sruff

Good Stuff! Early Van Halen will always be my favorite, and raw and polished is as good a description as any I've heard. Make sure to check out "Could this be Magic" the track immediately following "Take Your Whiskey Home" on this album too, it captures the band in all their glory perfectly and delivers on the acoustic shuffle where Whiskey only teases it. Vocals were never Van Halen's specialty, but they managed pretty well and Roth was a fantastic front man, and a much better dynamic with him than Sammy. Just my opinion. Great reaction as always, thank you for sharing! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmWwdGiCbKp7b9U
