Props to you for playing VH “Deep cuts”. Being a certain age We already know about these tracks. You have so many that you haven’t played yet. High school for me was late 70’s early 80’s. These tunes were the absolute shit.. With the passing of Bonham, for me it was like the passing of the torch. Zeppelin for me was number 1 in my heart, but when John choked on his own vomit, we as fans knew that was the end of Zeppelin. Van Halen was there to carry the torch. Bad Ass band.

V. H. Wrote the soundtrack of my youth. I’m 53 now and I’m somewhat conflicted over the fact that I cried more when Eddie died than when my own father passed and my dad and I were close! Great reaction! It’s somehow therapeutic to see a young man like yourself embarking on the journey that was Van Halen. R.I.P EVH

Nicely put. I am 52(53 in Dec)My father passed Oct 3rd 2016. Eddie just over 4 years later. Sorry about your dad.I still haven't gotten over either death. Rip Dads and Eddie.

You know, it's funny. Hearing about Eddie hit me hard, but I never cried. I did, however, come on YT and find his Eruption solo from Live W/O a Net and jam it loud. Surprisingly (or not), when I heard about Meatloaf, I cranked the song "Alive" from Bat 3 and cried like a baby. Maybe I let it out for both of them then? I'm only slightly less long in the tooth as I type this (50 in October) so Eddie was a BIG part of my childhood and adolescence. At least Eddie and Meat can jam out in the afterlife.

I saw Van Halen live about 12 times back in the early 80's with my friends. Bro, I wish you were in my crew back in the day - you would have had such a great time with us Van Halen freaks! We were all musicians so we could easily relate to your musical knowledge. But you weren't even a thought in your mom's mind back then. LOL. BTW, Diamond Dave is the only Van Halen for me. But 'Why Can't This Be Love' is a good Van Hagar song. Love your videos!

No, no, no... first finish off the David Years. Plenty of great stuff you still have to hear before going into Sammy territority. Atomic Punk, Jamie's Crying, Hear About It Later, Sinners Swing, And the Cradle Will Rock, Could This Be Magic, Drop Dead Legs, I'll Wait, Top Jimmy, Women in Love, Bottoms Up, Girl Gone Bad... who says you're ready with the Dave years?? You know when you're ready. When you had the full Dave experience. It will make the change to Sammy even better, just like we had in 86. And yes, at first you will go hmmmm and then you will gonna appreciate it later on. Cause with Sammy they also had some great albums. But for now, stick to Dave at least for another 8-10 songs. Come on, its 6 albums full of great material. Jamie's Crying will surprise your hip hop heart...

It's helpful just to think of the Hagar years as being a different band. Because the style is so different. Eddie is still a monster and his chops are amazing no matter what. But, the Hagar years are less about the fun-loving party, and a little more introspective and deep. I love both eras. I just depends on my mood.

Amazing song to an amazing reaction! The first six classic Van Halen albums are untouchable with David Lee Roth due to the conflict Eddie had with him, but the following 4 albums with Sammy Hagar are different with hardly any conflict, are just as great! Why? It’s because the singer dictated the direction most of the time! Try “Get Up” you won’t be disappointed!
