Watch the Van Halen concert called Right Here Right Now. It was filmed in 1992 at Selland Arena in Fresno CA. I was fortunate to have been there. One of the best shows ever!

First hit from the new Van Hagar album, summer of 1986! It was so exciting and sad that old VH was done. Huge hit at 15 years old driving to school (being driven really) Ha. listening to new VH! Have to say EAT EM AND SMILE from Diamond Dave was some good ass competition...One of the best years ever. Glad you enjoyed it, it really was great, good feeling music. Thank you once again my brother, made my night. Oh, and first number one hit from Van Halen ever. ..was with Sammy! \m/

I like ALL versions of Van Halen (and yes, that includes the Gary Cherone version). But the cool thing about Sammy is that he could sing AND play guitar, which expanded Eddie's options during a live performance like this. RIP2EVHURTHEGOAT

I thought Gary vocal wise was a great fit...he kind of got screwed with the direction they took on that album tho. Most of the music was written already and he didn't really have much input. He could sing both Sammy and David and make them both sound good. Saw them on that tour with Kenny Wayne Shepard

When you said you didn't recall the singer sounding like this, my first thought was that you've only reacted to Van Halen in the past and not Van Hagar (Sammy Hagar on vocals era). I can't remember what you have reacted to of theirs, but yeah..different guy altogether. What you decide to react to next is really dependant on whether you are looking for more Van Halen or more Van Hagar. I got favs from both eras as both are fire and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!! Just close your eyes and click on something. Chances are pretty great you can never go wrong with them.

Sammy Hagar joined Van Halen on vocals from 1986 to 1996... and briefly in 2004, after the exit of original singer David Lee Roth in 1985. Today, he's 74 yrs old and still singing! He's a much more accomplished vocalist than Roth... Hagar was a veteran rocker who had started singing in the late 60's, and could also play lead & rhythm guitar. His first success came in 1973, when he joined the band Montrose (which was 1 of Eddie Van Halen's favorite bands) and recorded 2 album before he was fired in 1975. Broke but determined, Sammy Hagar put together a solo rock band and started recording in 1976... an early radio single 'Red' got him the nickname 'the Red Rocker'... he released a string of albums and toured constantly in the disco era. Solo success came in 1981 when his album 'Standing Hampton' sold platinum in the US (1 million copies) and he became famous for the hit singles "I can't drive 55" ... "There's only one way to rock" ... 'Heavy metal' ... 'Your love is driving me crazy'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 In 1985, Sammy Hagar was considering retirement from music, when Eddie Van Halen called him up to audition for Van Halen... Apparently, he was getting into keyboards, and David Lee Roth was not a fan of that style of music... Hagar heard Eddie's music and was won over after writing lyrics for the tracks... That album became '5150' in 1986, which went to #1 and scored hits like 'Dreams' ... "Why can't this be love" ... 'Summer nights' ... 'Love walks in'... which went in a more arena rock direction than past VH records.

Correction... There were three eras, Roth, Hagar and Cherone, and I don't forget about the third era frankly I think that was the most mature era and that's what the fans hated the most about it. Everyone blamed Gary for that and I don't think that was fair because Eddie was a much more mature person at this point in his life and co-wrote all of the music it wasn't just Gary's fault everyone made him the Fall Guy

Saw them in the 70s, 80s and 90s... i think i really do prefer Van Hagar. DLR was a showman, but there is a point when you realize he cant sing and is kinda distracting. Like the damn show off kid. With sammy, it was just great concerts, everyone was perfection. Right now is one of the best vids of the era and songs. No matter what, Michael Anthony is the man.

This is one of my favorite VH songs. The 51/50 album was one of the best VH albums with Sammy Hagar. I loved this version of VH the best. I actually saw when Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth (original VH singer) toured together. Sammy blew Dave away, David Lee Roth was a snooze fest compared to Sammys set. Sammy Hagar always puts on a great high energy show. Please react to more Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. They had a lot of good ones. Sammy Hagar also has some good ones as a solo artist.
