When I was in my 20s I didn't have the discipline to stay consistent and was full of Excuses to why I failed at my fitness goals year after year. 10 years ago the idea of living in a Van by Golds Gym was very appealing.

@@RunsWithKnives I will head there right now. I bench press binge every Sunday ans listen to YT between serts. You're probably familiar with them but I always watched the H0dge Twins I like who they have become and Their workout with Cr0wder was cool. They were busting out 225 for reps and that always inspires me to be in that class of casual lifters.

@@JohnDrivesAnything I love the twins as well. Goggins is probably one of the baddest men on the planet he weighed over 300lbs and became a navy seal going thru hell week 3 times in one year.

@@RunsWithKnives Just watched his video that it's all on you. Damn right it is. Great Job losing so much weight man. I know so many people who gained so much weight during the lock down and they are in their 20s and they are full of excuses to why they can't lose weight. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings but in my head I'm like you're in your 20s it's all on you, you have the advantage of youth on your side. My last 2 shoulder injuries were so frustrating because it definitely takes longer to heal now. I really with I can tell 20 year old me to stop crying and whining. I'm never going to give up but I really wish I took advantage of my youth. I had no idea the Twins were 47 years old and their still really strong so I tell myself ok your 39 you still have time. I do think man what if I took lifting seriously in my 20s I could of been a elite lifter. I didn't have that drive until after the age of 33. Never going to give up though. I finally figured out the routine that makes me stronger faster the last injury that stopped me from benching for a year finally taught me to take it easy and remember to rest.

I bought a commercial grade recumbent bike and some resistance bands and have gone from 258 in 2018 when I had my last heart blockage, now I'm 185lbs of pure badass at the age of 52. Now I am totally carnivore and I feel great!

Hell yeah man! I never script my videos I speak off the top of my head. I will redo this vlog and bust out 225 on reps on camera to show that I made a goal and actually reached it. I really wanted to emphasis that the point of fitness is at the end of the day we need to be happy with our self. No matter what the form of excercize you enjoy run hard with it. My worse was when I was 33 I gave up felt sorry for myself got up to 240 of fat looking like a pregnant 9 month old woman and I felt horrible everyday. These days 10-12 hour shifts are nothing and my line at work is I can do this all day long. Keep on kicking ass buddy. I love fitness more and more every year. Right now I'm in destroy mode.

I listened to this video like it was a podcast, interesting topic. I have actually never stepped foot into a gym in my life! The gym life never really appealed to me. Couple of my friends got fricken huge though they both got injured in the gym lifting??? I always stay pretty active biking and hiking and people assume that I work out so I guess I’m kinda lucky! Lots of my coworkers are actually obese it’s kinda sad one guy is 395 pounds. I just bought a bad ass mountain bike and a bike rack for the van so I can bring my bike on all my van adventures now. I’m trying to increase my cardio, endurance and eat better hopefully get lean and mean by summertime!

The most important thing in life and I'm really realizing this now is being happy with yourself first and foremost. That line of no one living you until you love yourself is true. For me my peace has always been weight lifting and improving myself. That's when my self confidence started turning around. If I had a time machine I would tell my 20 year old self to stop being a quitter and stay focused stop making excuses. I would be an elite lifter if I was consistent in life. Hiking and biking are great ways to stay in shape. I'm Filipino and people laugh at me because I'm so white washed. My girlfriend even says I have red neck hobbies lol. I always joke around and I'm semi serious when I say wait until I slap a kayak on top of my van and I'm like one of those Extreme White Boys jumping into lakes! I really do want to do that. Find bad ass secluded rivers to jump into. I was 240 pounds when I was 33. A unhealthy 240 and I felt like Garbage. Low Energy all the time. Being in shape I feel great at work. Manual labor Job but I ripped out 10-12 hour days easy and it feels good being so strong that you never have to rely on anyone to help you. I advocate all forms of fitness. I even dabble in rock climbing gyms. Stay healthy my friend life goes by so fast and you have an edge when you take care of yourself. Are you into those expensive bikes? I had no idea a good bike can cost $1000+

@@JohnDrivesAnything I just might get a gym membership and try it at some point. Totally not opposed. I’d probably be super nervous walking in with zero knowledge. It would be cool to see what my capabilities are I know they call it beginners gains?? . It would be rad to look like an action figure with those huge capped delts! Yes mountain bikes are super expensive now it’s insane! Lots of advancements the past few years, tons of fun bombing down the trails. I’m an oldschool bmx rider just trying to stay active!

@@holdfast4588 If you can find a gym near you that allows 1 day memberships I'll happily show you the ropes man. Beginner gains are awesome you get so strong so fast. A lot of people get discouraged once those Beginner gains end. The Significance of benching 225 is that you have the 2 big plates on each side. The Average dude who isn't a big guy has a hard time getting to that milestone. A lot of dudes in the Gym bench 1 big plate on each side and maybe another 25 pound plate to compliment the big plate (45 Pounds) and a lot of people give up there because it's so hard after the beginner gains. I'm a kid of the 80s so I'm brainwashed that you gotta look like 80s action movies lol
