I have a Sportman 3500 I bought from Sams Club back in 2017 and it works great. Runs the A/C on our Springdale 2200MB. My only regret is it isn't electric start but I've never had any trouble starting it.

Thanks for sharing this information. I was holding off on getting a generator until I could get a Honda, but this price is so good, that I went ahead with this one. It will be a while before I get a soft start for the air and a Honda 2200 with extended gas tank like your setup, but that is the long term goal.
@davewolf88695 жыл бұрын
you can buy capacitors for cheap that will help soft start your a/c

Yes, I agree, but this biggest hurdle is the cost of a Honda and I would have to prioritize this setup over other items that I want to add first - like a complete hot shower system. Thanks

I know I’ve said this before but for your son, a small solar system is all he needs to keep/maintain his battery/batteries. I have two t-105 and 270 watts of solar & never have to plug in or charge batteries. It’s the simplest way to feel secure/comfortable about your batteries. All I ever use my Honda 2200 for is to make coffee, use micro or AC.

Hate to say it but I've learned the hard way that you get what you pay for when it comes to gen-sets. Good luck to anyone who buys one of these. Maybe it'll run great for a long time, and I hope it does for y'all, but I wouldn't bet on it. Way too good to be true. Honda FTW

Not everybody out there has that kind of money. I have a Honda EU 2200, I have this generator, I have a champion 3400 dual fuel generator , I have a paxcess 2000 generator, I have an atima AY2000i, Also an Atima AY2000i... I am a certified ope 2-stroke and 4-stroke mechanic. And I am telling people in this video that this generator is just fine compared to what is out there today. The fact that you can buy four of these generators for the price of just one Honda, yeah you get what you pay for. You can't tell people they get what they pay for, and that they should spend more money , because I have worked on Plenty of Hondas over the years. None of these generators are prone to breaking down.

Right, I just got one from Tractor Supply. Very quiet, started right up. It won't quite handle 750 watt hot air gun, overloads and turns off within 15 seconds. Good deal though, and cheaper (currently) than the "900 watt" 2 stroke generators that Harbor Freight just dropped.

These are sold under various names and configurations, in more than one country. I have had one (badged 'Impax') which does still work after some years, but overall they should be used with caution. Some are faulty straight off the (chinese) production line, there's an element of luck involved. The HT lead connection to the spark plug can be extremely tight, to the extent that it rips out of the connector and stays on the top of the spark plug. Fuel leaks are not unknown, mine had a leak which was down to a failed hose. The surging/hunting idle this generator has on the video, is quite common. Don't expect it to just go away, it probably won't. DO NOT use engine oil specced for a 'normal' car engine. You need oil for an air cooled engine (eg Honda) I nearly killed mine when i used ford car oil, even though it was the correct viscosity. It hydraulicked, smoked, then stalled. I would not want to run one of these under an RV, or next to a vehicle. They're OK if you get a good one, but....don't push your luck!

Thanks for letting us know the DC output does not have a overcharge interrupter. interrupters can be found in solar charging systems they are not very expensive, and will save batteries from burning up. I recommend using a overcharge interrupter that is rated at least twice of what you are using, so a 10 amp would do fine. Most trickle chargers are 1 or 2 amp, so 4 amp is not going to fry batteries during the charging process. With these being "sine wave" generators you "should" be able to plug a smart battery charger up to have more options maintaining a large solar battery bank, as that is my intent. As battery chargers and regular generators do not work together, because of their lack of a sine wave... A 3 speed fan is not a load test item, fans draw very little power. This generator will power a small 5,000 btu 460 watt window air conditioner with about 200 watts to spare. However it is not good to run a generator with zero load, so for break in or just periodic testing I use a fan on high. These small sportsman's have sine wave power, so it's supposed to be safe for electronics. Very attractive item, I just ordered two as they can run in parallel to double the output. Running in Parallel also allows for continues running as you can shift a small 800 watt load from one to the other generator, then shut one down for maintenance...
@anthonyiocca56832 жыл бұрын
I ordered 2, I returned 1 because it overloaded when running a 200 watt appliance. I kept the other but it won’t power a 400 watt appliance. They both ran well and very quiet. Mine don’t putout the rated power. I liked the eco mode with the 40cc 4 stroke engine. A real gas sipper, but not reliable at haft the rated power…

Gotta be careful before the first start. Usually ya run it for 20 -30 min or maybe a lil more with no load then change the oil. Then run it for over an hour with no load then change the oil again. I think I did it like 3 times with no load like over 3 hours of total run time

I ordered this on Wednesday night after watching yours and Hobotech's reviews of it. It showed up on my doorstep this morning! very fast! Anyway my question to you before I try it out is ... I don't see anything in the manual about a break in period. It just says to put fuel and 10W30 in it. I understand the first oil change comes at 20 hours? So I'm assuming that 20 hours is the break in period? also what oil do you recommend for first 20 hours and after? thanks.

The description on Home Depot's website states that it is best for altitudes below 3000 feet. Has anyone had an issue with this? I often camp at 6000-7000 ft.
@Rvdaydream5 жыл бұрын
You will definitely have diminished results as you increase in altitude. It's all about the engines efficiency to convert air and fuel into power and when you take one of those factors and reduce it such as altitude does with the amount of air pressure, then you will get reduced engine performance and therefore reduced generator output. It's such a small engine and the only way to compensate for that is by changing the carburetor to accommodate for the higher altitude.

I just bought one and every 10 seconds it does a quick lope. Then under a load it lopes every 30-50 seconds. Power output is a constant 124v even during the lope. Should I be concerned?
@Rvdaydream3 жыл бұрын
Assuming that you put fresh gasoline in it, meaning less than 30 days old, and you have run it for at least 3 hours then I would say it should be a pretty good steady RPM all the time. I would personally return it to the store and have them replace it with another. It's not going to hurt anything as it is an inverter and as long as the voltage coming out is consistent especially under heavy load there really isn't a problem. But, it sounds as if they're Maybe an adjustment that needs to be made on the carburetor. However, since its brand new, you should not have to make that adjustment it should have been perfect when you bought it.

people get the dc output wrong, it's only going to put 4 amps in your battery so long as its output voltage is higher than the batteries voltage. it's not going to blow your batteries up at all, unless it's outputting high 14 volts at all times.

@Rvdaydream4 жыл бұрын
There's a couple of schools of thought on that. One is baby it and allow it to fluctuate under slight load conditions. The other one is to run it like you're going to use it. It's cheap enough I chose to do the second. Plus if it fails it still under warranty at that time and I could review its breakdown
