Pro tip: Use your metal detector Hannah. There is gold in the river gravels, but more of the larger gold over time works its way lower (gold is very dense) into crevices in the bedrock. Look for low hydrodynamic pressure areas that concentrate the heavy material too. That river gravel wall in the desert is definitely asking for a sensitive metal detector to save time. Watch out below, and be safe.

Hello Hannah, if you're interested to find some gold and you are in British Columbia you should look into cracks in the bedrock not in gravel!!! I think you are going to find that, there into the last river spot in the video and use gloves to protect your beautiful hands. Glad to see you into this beautiful hobby! enjoy the freedom of the nature bye for now.

Hannah, There is a little more to finding gold than scraping rock and sand from walls and sand bars. I know I have tried. Here are a few KZbinRs that are inspirations to me. They many help you with your quest. Look up Prospector Jess, Jeff Williams and California Mother Lode Prospecting. They are located in the SW USA. Dan Hurd and PioneerPauly work the British Columba. They all will help you get started prospecting. Good Luck!

Great Video as usual. I totally agree with your Hello Fresh take. We used them and a few other companies when my wife and I were working shifts. So easy to have dinner without all the fuss of forgetting what to buy at the store. Not to mention the variety of foods we got to try.. If panning is something which interests you, try and get sand from deeper pools of water and that which has settled under large boulders. You nay also want to get a water proof metal detector (Garrett pro pointer) it is super small, water proof to ten feet and will help with locating smaller nuggets. As always stay safe.. Cheers
@DrHannahStraight3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have a gold detector now but I don't think its waterproof...need to look into this!
@RWSBrowning3 жыл бұрын
Learning to use a gold pan is critical and takes practice. Can you dig a few 5 gal pails of pay dirt from the dry areas and take them to the river to pan? On the dried river banks gold will settle around those round boulders (which is a great sign of an old creek or river) look for layers of different colored dirt gold may have concentrated in those layers. In rivers look for large rocks where there is current, a bend in the river and dig under and behind them, don't look for large nuggets right away you are probably missing out on many small gold flakes and if you do not look for them in the pan you are missing and throwing back the gold. Those rivers are perfect for spinners and trout will hide behind the rocks and ambush the lure.

@seasonalsteve61583 жыл бұрын
To get gold out of that bank you could use a detector and try to find pieces big enough for a detector to hear. You could fill a bucket with dirt and find some water to pan the dirt. You could use a dry washer, it collects the gold without water. The dirt has to be very dry. The bucket method would be the most effective for most folks.

It's like a lot of things you need to know where to look. In the 90s I went to a mining supply shop. The shop told me a guy comes in every day with a half ounce of gold. He took a back pack with him and a gold pan and a few tools. He would go to a public accessible place everyone else goes but don't find gold and every day he would go over their digging spots and find gold. He knew how to find it, they didn't it. They were going over it just missing the gold and he would get it.

Just remember when digging DRY dirt.. you may/will not See it in your pan.. gold will be caked with dirt... it needs to be washed .. either in wash tub or the river...ect Also, you need look for the harder to dig gravels.. gold slides right through the loose gravels... and find the bedrock, and dig out the gravel thats packed in the cracks.. and put it in your pan.. and wash em.... just make sure your not on someone's Claim (like u said, ha). maybe thats why that guy was mad, or he had forgot his gold pans, like i did Thanksgiving week, down in the Chocolate Mtns at our clubs claim., i had to use my small cooking pot..which didnt work well..
