Hey everyone, this is Rick - I can't thank you all enough for your amazing, supportive comments. I hope the thing that really shows through is how much of a difference it makes to have positive, supportive people in your life and to not give up on yourself before you at least try. I wasn't very certain of myself that day but I showed up and the love and support of the people around me did the rest. Sometimes that's all we can do...show up, give it your best and see what happens. If you have a big goal in life that you've been holding back on, I hope this video gives you a little extra courage to give it a shot. You got this!!

Amazing commitment by all. Looking forward to you being on Nate’s team. So glad you have been able to overcome the challenges that initiated 2+ decades ago. I’m 30 years post spinal cord injury and have done more from my chair than I would have ever done on my two feet. From 25 mile Long hand cycle rides with friends, skydiving..with friends, mono snow skiing, sea kayaking Lake Superior, camping and canoeing down the Ocala Nat’l Forest, and waterskiing, then the ultimate journey-having 3 children (24,14,&7). Such a pleasure to watch you excel and how much love you have from your family and friends is a blessing. Best wishes on wherever your journey takes you.

@Lexaloodle I was in shock and awe. That is a massive disability to live with, let alone be so positive and living a full and adventurous lifestyle. Having one lung is huge, a buggered diaphragm adds to to breathing disorders, he's arm and pec have no feeling up the top. Jeez , having low oxygen levels is a nightmare. I have lung problems and my oxygen sats are 88 without oxygen, hate to think what his are. He's a warrior 💙 so much respect for that man. He looks really good to. Lost weight around his belly, really toned, looks younger as well. Good on him.

None of the unaffordable Earthromer, flying exorbitant 1st class in this, that, or the other airline, fancy resort villas, or extraordinary Airbnbs vlogs can hold a candle to the human story episodes from Kara and Nate, and this was unquestionably the pinnacle of human stories they've told so far. This was so good in so many ways that it's going to be hard to ever top this.

Gosh, when Kara reunited with Nate, I could feel ALL the emotions. I'm glad Nate also said "you can't do that" cause, even though he understood her reason, it put them both in danger. So glad they were both safe. Also, when Nate was panic-searching for an Element for Rick and saying, "WHERE IS IT?!" Kara's response, "IT'S EVERYWHERE! JUST OPEN YOUR EYES!!" is one that (I think) EVERY wife has said at one point. I related to that sm 😅💜

Sat phones aren't that expensive. They come in many styles. They can save lives in remote places where there is no cell service. We used them in the Northest Territories. Where there are few cell towers. They can afford it for sure.

Rick is a superhero! Also this video captures friendship in its purest form. Seeing the crew cheer Rick on and just be the happiest for him was the most wholesome thing i have ever seen and reminded me of how i feel when my best friends achieve things that they have set their minds on in their lives. It's pure joy seeing your friends win in life and it was pure joy watching this video :')

I loved it when Kara said " You're my hero Rick." This guy is awesome with all he's overcome to be at this point in life biking in a race. He certainly has a future career as a motivational speaker. I was really moved by how far he's come in his recovery both physically and mentally. You certainly aren't a quitter but a doer and your energy and zest for life are off the charts blowing out all expectations of any naysayer.

I watched this while sick, on vacation in France with an infection in my chest and a fever that’s been on and off for 5 days. It’s been miserable to say the least. But when Rick talked about how he approached his injury, how he used the power of his mind to overcome what could’ve been completely debilitating - it gave me hope. I feel like this episode came to me right when I needed it. Thank you to Rick for your bravery and candor about your journey, and to Kara and Nate for capturing this.
