I live in Croatia in one of these coastal towns and I can say that these little places are in hibernation in the off season. That's why it looks so dead. The time to visit is late spring/summer.

First you were in Skradin, beautiful little town on the mouth of the river Krka. During the summer it's very touristy since it has a marina, but off season it looks sleepy especially on a rainy day.

It also has the Skradin risotto that the late Anthony Bourdain went apeshit about. And the two out of this world wineries, Slavic and Bibich. It was at the Bibich winery that Bourdain gorged on the Skradin risotto and then drank himself under the table on the Bibich Sangreal red.🥂🍽🍷

Until a couple of years ago, you could swim in the waterfall. It was fantastic. Hundreds in when I went. The town at the bottom where you pick up the boat is lovely. Great wine bar. There's a stunning harbour town just south of Dubrovnik called Cavtat which is well worth visiting.

I live in Šibenik. It's a town near the Krka Falls towards the sea. A small town but bigger than the equally beautiful Skradin you've been to. We often go to waterfalls and once we were there when it was raining lightly. It was as beautiful as if we were in a fairy world.

Ahh, the uphill was the right way to go and there is a car park outside waterfalls. If you heading down plan your next stop by Kravica waterfalls or in Mostar. Both good to see. There is a campsite right at the bottom, next to the river and falls for €5. Happy to help with planning Balkans, or campings spots or in general.

Kirka falls is one of my best days out ever. There is a circular boardwalk route of about 3km around the main falls with an amazing view at every corner. Not sure about out of season but i have found Croatian hospitality to be just about the best i have ever received in the main European tourist cities. Dubrovnik, Split and Pula are beautiful Cities.

It's not that they don't want to greet. It's just the end of summer turistic season, and all the locals had their's soul sucked out due to large number of visitors, hard work and are in need of a recharge. 😂😂😂😂 i live in a similar town, so I can relate. 😅😅 anyhow, it's a really good and funny video. I was at that waterfall last month there was a car park you can walk to it. Would have been a 20 min walk downhill and the you have to walk up it again

Was hoping you found the waterfalls. If you do manage to get into Bosnia you should pay krupa waterfalls a visit in Baja Luka. Absolutely stunning place, as most of Croatia and Bosnia is. You should have gone to Split too. Was out there in 95 during the conflict and planning on going back to all the places I went to back then to see how much it has changed.

Usually the best time of the year for campers to visit Croatia is September and October. It's warm but not hot, and it looks like summer season but without crowds of people. All the shops and restauants are open and prices are a bit lower than in high season. However I think you've just missed it. And for the unfriendly people, it's just them minding their own business. People in Dalmatia are nor that smiling and open, but once you know them they are fun. Just like the other mediterranean folks living on some sort of dry rock.

Krka national park. 43.86502372909994, 15.97300465359016, the closest little town- Skradin, closest bigger town- Šibenik. Both very worthy of exploration too: 5 castles (forts) in them, Game of Thrones location and history and stories you can spend your life learning about and you would still have new stuff to learn.
