I found this quote that we can all relate to at the bottom. Names do hurt and that is a fact. She was just a girl living her life to the best of her abilities. I noticed people were digging into her for videos that she made. I found out the dark and sad news through Eamon and Beck. The world would be a fine place without bullying. I have been bullied and it hurts. No one to talk to and no one to confide with. I hope she is resting now and forever. It is reported to have appeared in The Christian Recorder of March 1862, a publication of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where it is presented as an "old adage" in this form: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never break me. But names will never harm me.

When train engineers are being trained part of the training is for things like this happening. They are told not if - but when it happens. My husband one time got to do a simulation video of being in the seat seeing that track ahead. My husband is a retired police officer. He is 67. He got to experience that - several years ago. Yeah they are told things like that will happen - accidents or on purpose. They do those simulation videos. Years ago when my husband was an EMT before he became a police officer- he had to help pick up body parts from a young man - their car stalled on the tracks. He turned back to get a new pair of boots out of the car and it cost him his life. My husband said he saw his face lying there. I know about the boots because years after that I worked with his sister and she told me - there were others who jumped out of the car and they told why he got killed - reaching back to get those new boots. I told her my husband was an EMT then and was there. I didn’t tell her the details.

This breaks my heart because I know personally how hard it is to cope with depression. To those out there who share in this battle...please..no matter how down you get, how dark it might seem, or how long the spell has been that you're currently going through..don't ever give up. One day things will change, and all the hope that's kept you going to get you there will pay off. Although you may not feel like it..you're not alone in the darkness. I'm right in here with you..and there are many others here too. There's a purpose why we keep going, and we'll never discover our purpose if we don't dig deep to stay strong. I love ya, your life does means something, and we'll make it through this together.

I hate that people say "took their life" or "committed suicide" because it wasn't their choice. It is best to say died from mental illness or lost their battle with mental illness. These people fight and fight hard to live and sometimes the illness is to strong or health care is fails them. No one takes their own life by choice. -A Suicide Survivor
@excitingtimes-hh2bu

@@l.j.1163 Excuse me...you don't know my story! As someone who has had SEVERE depression, PMDD, almost lost my life to a mental illness I get the full scope of the story. I'm saying that the words suicide or take their own life brings a different connotation to what one goes through due to the stigma of those words. Most survivors of "suicide" or people who have lost their loved ones prefer different wording phrase like lost their battle to mental illness. A person passes from a mental illness is no different than someone passing of cancer, they both fight with all they have to live and both should be celebrated in life.

@@excitingtimes-hh2bu I agree... I see depression more like someone who has epilepsy (I have epilepsy so it is easier for me to use this comparison) Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder that causes seizures. I was born with this susceptibility to having seizures...it is who i am, in my genetic make up and I am lucky to have a type of that is treatable. Anyone in the world can suffer from a seizure... 1 in 10 people will have one in their life time and might not even know... but Epileptics, they have a lower threshold and so can have multiple seizures throughout their lives and it needs to be treated... Just like with depression... anyone can suffer depression but people born with a lower threshold can experience a life threatening form of depression which can lead to the act of suicide. Just like epilepsy that is uncontrolled can lead to a life threatening seizure. There are also triggers that need to be controlled for both epilepsy and depression and I think they are very similar... triggers to avoid include- lack of sleep, stress, caffeine, lack of exercise, bad diet, dehydration, imbalanced electrolytes ect ect ect. The main difference between epilepsy and depression is epilepsy is viewed differently in health care. It seems more treatable. I had a bunch of seizures I was immediately seen by a neurologist, had an MRI, Cat scans, EEGs, had to change my diet, wasn't able to drive and wasn't allowed to really be alone while the testing was going on. It was taken very seriously by doctors from a general family dr, to an ER dr, to the specialist I saw, to even people like my dentist.... even the dentist takes extra care with me now that i tick the form saying I'm epileptic to make sure I am not stressed out at all or experience anxiety because it is just known those things can cause seizures. One day... i think there will be a deeper understanding of depression being treated more similarly to things that are currently treated by neurologists vs treated just by psychiatrists or psychologists.

Perfectly put. I am so glad to see a comment like yours for once. I also am seeing a lot of "If only she knew how much people loved her" or "If only she knew how much pain she would be causing to those around her". People need to wake up and stop staying these harmful things. People with severe depression, most times, know that they are loved deeply, which is why they live as long as they do, pushing through a kind of pain and suffering most people have yet to ever comprehend or experience, regardless of what has gone on in their lives. Lee was a strong women. She fought hard every single day, such a brave and beautiful soul. If anyone is interested in listening to her speak so eloquently and deeply about her struggles and what was going on, listen to Eamon and Becs podcast, "Reboot" from March 1st called "Depression and Healing Through The Darkness With Lee MacMillan". The way Lee describes depression is absolutely phenomenal. Such an emotionally intelligent woman.

No. It's weird that people keep trying to change facts with words, like pronouns, titles, or whatever else people are trying to change. You can change or play around with all the words you want, but it's a fact that she "took her own life", meaning "committed suicide". If people want to specify what it was "due to", that's their choice, because it is possible for people who are not mentally ill, to commit suicide also. There are reasons people commit suicide, other than mental illnesss. I know, because i too, am a survivor. I'm just saying, we need to stop being so sensitive about things like that. It's gotten to the point that people are afraid to say basic things, for fear of offending someone. Maybe that's one of the reasons people aren't reaching out, or expressing themselves, like they should be.
@alb5801
@alb5801 3 жыл бұрын
You all have valid points. It might be more triggering to say lost a battle to mental illness because of course there isn’t any negative connotation with mental illness, right? I think every person has the right to express this tragic death how they express it, and it’s our responsibility is to not take someone to task just because they didn’t use the word choice exactly as we would have expressed it. The wording will not bring this young lady back nor will it ease the pain of her loved ones. This is all said with care, kindness, empathy, and compassion. I am not a suicide survivor but a person that suffers from MH disorders including depression.

May she rest in peace. I think a lot of people who suffer depression are on average very happy people and their smiles are real. There just comes moments of depression likely caused by chemical imbalances of the brain, and that is physically something a person is born to be more susceptible to in triggering times. I am epileptic which is a central nervous system disorder that causes seizures. Many reasons behind epilepsy are unknown and there are many different types of epilepsy. Triggers for a seizure though are the same for everyone in the world, it is just epileptics have a lower threshhold to those triggers: Some triggers which I think are similar to depression triggers include: lack of sleep, caffeine, not exercising, imbalance of electrolytes, becoming anemic or another health issue, if i breast feed (caused hormonal imbalance), stress, not eating properly... I feel this is the same for people who suffer from depression. There is a chemical imbalance in the brain and it is triggered by multiple things that happen at once and create a perfect storm for disaster. I think depression can be treated just like epileptic seizures are treated, or diabetes, or heart disease. Like epilepsy, depression can happen to anyone... but people are born with different thresholds to handle depression before a life threatening result occurs because of the disorder. It is nothing to be ashamed of... it is just the chemistry of your mind and the genetic make up of what makes you who you are. Science is capable of helping people balance the mind and body... and prepare us / make us better equipped to control things like seizures, depression, heart attacks, anxiety attacks, allergic reactions ect ect ect. We all need to just keep talking about health and wellness. Remove any sort of stigma that prevents someone from seeking help when they need help

Try not to focus on the one person who "dislikes" you, for there are 100 that love you! Focus on the good, shrug off the people who bug ya, or don't like you. I know this is far easier said than done. But "what other people think of you is none of your business". It's their's. Let them deal with their issues - you go on being there for the one's who adore you. Still working on this myself (since 2004!), so, try... it's quite freeing. Really was the best advice I ever got to deal with the stigmatization of mental illness & addiction. Might help KZbinrs. Godspeed, Lee❤️

She was so cute but shattered on the inside. She appeared so full of life and joyful. Proof that appearances are deceptive.It's really sad. It would be interesting to know what lead her to do that. Was she medicated ? Well surrounded ? She was alone at that moment, what happened that day ? An investigation has to be opened. The members of her entourage must be interrogated too. In any case, may she rest in peace.

@@lindseycarribean5113 So you want to further the trauma? What's the matter with you? We all know what's wrong and 9/10 it is the "investigators" ie. the system. If someone were at the tracks watching trains they could have talked her out of it, BUT police ticket people for "trainspotting" Period. The system is the problem. That's the microsystem that would have meant the difference of whether she was still alive. The macro is more than that. Maybe you'd have to have studied social science. Not sure. “The paradox of education is precisely this-that as one begins to become conscious, one begins to examine the society in which they are being educated.” - James Baldwin The problem is social scientists are now being disregarded as "not a real job" on all levels from the local to International Affairs and everyone is wondering why society is falling apart and we have a global pandemic. The social scientists will tell you EXACTLY why, it is obvious to them but all you ants are wandering around picking up your granules of sand. In short an investigation doesn't need to be done. Watch her videos. Listen to the "reroot" podcast with Eamon and Bec and do your own investigation. The reasons are clear.

My heartfelt compassion goes out to the family friends and channel members of this beautiful woman loss of her life is tragic. Something within my soul tells me the authorities need to look deeper into this for I feel that this may not have been as it appears. And to those who have negative comments who have hatred that they send to anybody on social media please stop it we understand you're hurting too there's no need to share that hurt in a negative way find some therapy a spiritual mentor and loved family member or friend and share what you feel in a positive way so that you can grow into the beautiful human being that you are.

I'm so sorry to hear about this woman, I did not know her. For those people who are struggling with depression, there is hope. I have experience depression and I'm sure most of us have in our lifetime. You assess your situation a hundred times worse than reality. Most times for depression is treated with drugs that mask your symptoms but the cause is not really dealt with. As a result you get even worse. There is someone that came to mend the broken hearted and set the captives free and his name is Jesus. He literally restored me and gave me a joy and hope that no pandemic or any situation can take away. He has renewed my mind and set me free. Seek Jesus today, repent from your sins and get freedom.

Suicide is no longer a crime. No one "commits" suicide. They take their own life. Until you have lived through depression or thoughts of suicide, it is hard to understand what goes on in their heads. People with mental health issues can be very good actors because they don't want to burden others with their pain and suffering due to the stigma attached to it. That's why it is usually such a shock to most when they hear of their death. Especially people who talked to them shortly before their death. Many people always say they want to help but don't know what is needed. Do research to find what effective coping mechanisms are available that help them to refocus over their depression and anxieties. Sometimes it's just good to sit with them and say nothing but show your support by being there. Everyone with mental health issues is different.
