VAN LIFE ON AN ISLAND. it was almost perfect...

We found the PERFECT ISLAND for van life, but there was one teeny, tiny problem... Join us this week as we battle a bunch of mosquitos, Dana gives Lou a haircut for the first time in years, and we explore the beautiful island of Elafonisos in southern Greece.
Some days in the van are so beautiful I just want to bottle them up and keep them forever--and lucky for me, Lou edited together our snippets from this day into a nice "Day in the Life" story that shows what it's really like to live in a van--we swim in the ocean, we make repairs on our rusty old home, we have to get creative when our lpg gas bottle runs dry.

On Christmas Eve, our journey in our little camper took us to Galveston beach. We got a spot right on the beach and watched the sunset. It was unbelievably beautiful. But we quickly realized that we were surrounded by thousands of mosquitos and were up all night taping every little hole we could find. This video brought me right back to that moment! Wish we had that mosquito netting 😂 this video was so gorgeous to watch as usual thanks guys!

Have you ever done 'no cook oats'? The night before add water/nut milk and long cook oats in your usual recipe, cover and refrigerate (because of nut milk) . In the morning the oats are fully rehydrated and ready to eat without every cooking. Of course they are cold, but I'm totally hooked on cold oats now. Just a thought to save on gas or when you run out. Plus it's nice to have a cold breakfast on a hot morning.

They have a little tiny fridge, so I doubt they'd have room to store it overnight...but sounds doable otherwise

Currently soaking in a baking soda and apple cider vinegar bath as I watch this to relieve the itch of the many mosquito bites I got while hiking recently....how fitting.

There's a homeopathic remedy for bug bites! Not only does it help the itch but it blocks the (hormone?) scent your body produces after having been bitten that rings the dinner bell for other mosquitoes!

Hi I was certain you were in Elafonisos before i even read the comments. It is the most clear and beautiful waters in the whole country (yes i am Greek) Enjoy!!!! PS For all of you that might want to visit pls note there are 2 islands called Elafonisos One is at the south part of Peloponisos (the one in the video) and its a very short ferry ride to get there,and the other one is in the South Part of Creta and you actually walk to the island!!!! Cannot bring a van there, Both have clear blue waters

Mosquitoes HATE lavender....look into potting a lavender plant in your car or lavender oil put on outside of mosquitoes nets or on your skin. In the USA at Walmart you can purchase lavender oil for about $6 (small jar) that will last a long time. It smells bad but you get use to it. A small amount goes a long way. Very cute video. You guys hit the jackpot with this closed hotel. WOW. Just when you think you cant get away from the rat race...you guys remind us that you can!! Enjoy your trip of a life time!!

My friend cuts his own hair no mirror& he always does a kewl punky rad job, by feel. What a life ! Thanx again for sharing! Girl u cook he does the dishes.
