VAN LIFE Rest Stop on the ocean. Kiama Harbour.

VAN LIFE Kiama Free 24 hour water front Parking Area at Kiama Harbour.
I decided to grab some dinner and sit on the Harbour in Kiama on the NSW south coast. Absolute water front in a 24 hour parking area.
As I mentioned in the video, I love my little van and would always prefer to go and park on the waters edge and grab some dinner even on the most miserable cloudy, windy & rainy day. There's just something nice about getting away in the van, even if it is only for a few hours or a single over nighter.

It certainly doesn’t get much better then that. Fits perfectly into a normal car space. I didn’t realise that which is definitely a bonus. Kiama is a beautiful little spot. We haven’t been there for years. Lovely video. Thank you 🙏 😊

Thanks for great video. We are taking delivery of our Jayco fd19-1 in 2 weeks and would love to try some of these south coast (from Sydney) park ups that you feature. I take it that you did these recently before the school holidays began. My wife is a bit apprehensive about staying in the car park as she is afraid about hoodlums. I guess problems can spring up anywhere but I agree - it doesn’t get much better than that! Happy new year.

I know exactly how you feel Malcolm. My wife and I have felt the same about these types of stop overs. The beauty about this particular one is that a lot of the time there are other vans there at the same time. Also this parking area has a sign saying 24 Parking then another sign saying no camping. In saying that there’s always vans here stopping over staying the night. I’ve probably stayed in rest stops and free camps about 15 to 20 times in the last year and never had any dramas. My son has done about the same amount in it too without any dramas. I also think that if your generally quiet and clean up after yourself no one seems to bother you. Safe travel S mate. You’re going to love it, both on and off the grid. 😃👍

we were parked there yesterday and wednesday,we slept at Nangary rest area.went for 3 swims in pool and spoke to the Mayor by Chance-we love it there and you will find us every couple of weeks.We are booked in at berry next sat and sunday but we will be in that car park saturday morn and monday as well.

That looks like a great little spot to stop over. Can you park a caravan there mate or do you need to fit inside the lines. I would need to park down the park parallel to the shore. My boys want to go fishing down south so this might be good for a night.

Hello mate. Happy New Year to you & the family. This particular parking area isn’t good for cars towing vans, but there are spots up near the lighthouse and also around the top area of the boat ramp. Kiama also has two really good caravan parks right on the water. One one the south side of the main surf beach and another just a little further south at Kendall’s. Cracking spot! I'll be hopefully checking it out when I buy mine in early 2024.. Watching your travels with interest as this is the RV model I'm keen on buying..it looks super. Is it easy to navigate on a car license ?

Hi Moria. It’s a great little van. Easy to navigate and drive on a car licence. Also fits into most car spaces, great on fuel and so quick and easy to set up. Nearly 18 months since we bought it and I still absolutely love it. You’ll love yours too. 😃👍

Thanks for pointing out how the motorhome fits perfectly into a regular parking spot. I think the best thing about having your own accommodation is having your creature comforts with you every night. Love it, especially in the rain!!
