Van Life - School Bus Conversion Tour - Meet Van Dwellers Patrick & Sarah

While on our amazing journey through Yellowstone, Grand Teton and much of Wyoming, Montana, and surrounding areas, we left Yellowstone through the East entrance toward Cody and found a Walmart to restock supplies. As many of you probably already know, most Wal-Marts across the country are nice enough to allow RVs, vans and campers to park overnight for free. You'll see many travelers parked for the night in just about any Walmart parking lot you come across, especially near tourist hot spots. We knew we'd see some like-minded travelers and some cool van conversions and sure enough, we spotted a converted yellow school bus right away. It is owned by Patrick and Sarah who are traveling across the country with their two dogs, Rusty and Daisy.
They have been traveling for six weeks already and are intending to head into Yellowstone next. Sarah's parents, having attended Woodstock, no doubt influenced her desire to live life in a non-traditional way. Sarah is a photographer who is adding to her portfolio daily while out here in this amazingly beautiful country. She and Patrick stop at fairs and art shows along their journey in order to show off Sarah's photography and art. They originally thought they would buy a van to travel in but the yellow school bus, which they found on Craig’s List for only $3800, was too good to pass up. The previous owner, who bought it at an auction and was planning to convert it for travel, had a change of plans and put it up for sale. Patrick and Sarah's lucky find meant that the bus conversion became their reality. Using shutters, counters and materials they gathered from flea markets and their parents' and grandparents' houses, they have made quite a neat little set-up for their travels and adventures. They store portable solar panels in brackets in the roof and pull them out as needed.

Damn $3,800.00 dollars is so cheap. I could go crazy with that bus. I would even see if anyone wants to pay me some good money to body wrap that thing. It would be an extra $900.00 plus a month in my pocket. Then save the money to do the upgrades. And yes I could get 800 watts of solar on that roof easy, which is max for 60 amp MPPT controller.

What a beauty rig, thank you for sharing. I love that "on the road" revolution that it is happens in USA. Here in Australia we are only about 23 million people but there are over 300000 RV on the road all the time and the industry it is growing. Tax man is not happy.
