I'm from Canada and have experienced snowdrifts up to the second story windows of our house. Watching Kara and Nate exclaim over snow just as much as they over the beauty of the Bosnia salt flats or the Amazon wildlife just makes me giggle. Snow is such a common thing to me. But I suppose the Sherpas on Everest probably don't bat an eyelid over those vistas anymore, either. It is fun seeing Canada through Kara and Nate, though, I guess I really should appreciate what we have more than I do.

Visiting a country that has winter if you've never experienced it truly is so different than living it. Most people are affected by seasonal depression and honestly... If I didn't love this country so much I'd probably move somewhere without winters. Getting up in the morning and not seeing the sun rise until 8/9 am (in southern Ontario too) and having it set before you get home, around 5 pm ONTOP of freezing cold temperatures, bad road conditions and having to deal with snow management, then the flooding... Is much different for us as residents. I'm always facinated by tourists who are excited by snow.

Love this guys!! 10yrs ago the wife and I sold our house and everything we had in the UK, and brought a one way flight ticket to Australia. We brought an old Toyota HiAce van, smaller than your Transit, and lived it that driving around Australia for 12 months! Loved it, best experience ever, and when we sold it we only lost $1000 on it which is nothing really for 12 months use. Ended up coming to New Zealand next and never left :) . Hi Kara & Nate - Nice van tour - we've been in our van since May this year and you get used to it - looks like you're having a fab time. Having a bed that turns into a sofa is great but it means you have to make the bed every night and if one of you wakes up before then its easier having a separate table. Loved the drone shots - and the filming as always - thanks for sharing another awesome vlog 🚐👍😀 Chris & Marianne

I can imagine the surprise you were in for the next morning waking up in Lake Louise and seeing all of that beauty around you. Driving after dark isn't ideal of course - you don't want to miss the views not to mention wildlife on the road - but sometimes schedules just require it. The love affair with snow tends to evaporate if you have to shovel it every day, but it's a lot of fun seeing your joy at experiencing it. Safe travels!

So many people in this comment section are asking about bathrooms and showers. Road trips in the western parts of Canada and the US are super convenient. There are public bathrooms and showers everywhere. Campgrounds, RV parks, rest areas, service stations, aquatic centers, etc. There are also public lands everywhere you go. When going deep into the wilderness, very often sleeping in a vehicle will be a lot more convenient than trying to find a hotel somewhere. So don't let the bathroom situation stop anyone from experiencing it on your own.

Here’s a pro tip... if you’re hooking up to (and paying for) electricity at night, use as much of it as you can to do things like making coffee and heating the van, instead of using up your own gas and propane. We use an oscillating ceramic heater and an electric kettle for these things. Save your propane and gas for times when electricity isn’t available. Also, if it’s as cold as it looks (under 40 degrees F), you can store food outside. Don’t worry about the ice but place the cooler out of the way of bears, tho, like on the roof of the van...
