Hi Jeff, nice video. Here are some popular conversions in the Netherlands (Europe): - VW 1.8 16v KR/PL engine (Golf Mk2 GTI) directly mountable on original diesel VW t25 engine mounts. - VW 2.0 8v ABA engine (early Golf Mk3 GTI) directly mountable on original diesel VW t25 engine mounts. - VW 2.0 16v ABF engine (late Golf Mk3 GTI) directly mountable on original diesel VW t25 engine mounts. - VW 2.9 12V ABV vr6 engine (Golf MK3 & Corrado) - VW 1.8 20V (T) engine (you mentioned in the video) Many of VW TDI diesel engines (pre VW dieselgate :D) possible aswell.

If only a Chevrolet 4.3 V6 would clear the deck. Our work fleet includes numerous Silverado pickups with this particular engine. Even with minimal maintenance, we get 200k miles from the engines. Power is great for a workhorse V-6. Breakdowns would be super easy to fix as you travel cross country.

Stretch the wheelbase to push the drive axle back about 24”. Utilize a Silverado diff and brakes onto a floating cradle that carries rear end, trans, Duramax. Requires a subframe and short dog house. Radiator and fans over front bumper. Gains storage deck over extended rear, and towing capacity. Add-on 4x4 no problem.

Boxer diesel parts are hard to get. Svx 3.3L parts are also hard to get. I have one . Some are no longer available. No TB ,cam or crank sensors. The best engine is the Subaru 2.5. Well supported and parts can be had anywhere. Diesel is a whole ' nother topic. The Audi 5 is interesting.
