Hilarious vid, man. Great review, but this time I could barely tell the difference on your A/B audio test. Maybe a little flatter, but with the adjustability, I guess you can tune to any situation/room.

I have these speakers hooked up to my Asus Essence STX II PC sound card along with a Klipsch SPL-150sw subwoofer and it all sounds absolutely glorious. These speakers are accurate, clean, and louder than I would ever need them to be. For the money, I believe these are just about as good of a powered speaker as one can buy.

Always enjoy your reviews, Joe. I got my T1Es a few weeks before you had your unboxing, as my editing desktop studio monitors...and, WOW! They are up about 12" above my wide desk (on a shelf built into my wide desk) , toed in to my normal sitting positing, with the rears about 18" from the wall. Only settings I changed from the defaults were 1) no bass shelving, 2) Blue broadcasts for only 2 minutes after powering on, and 3) turned off limiter. I'm an old audiophile who has also designed and built my equipment (but that's been years ago), and I cannot believe how good these sound for the money, plus they include the DAC and amplifier, with all the inputs I'll ever need for my application. Overall, an outstanding mix of tonal balance, dynamics, detail, and imaging. I was thinking that I might have to spend at least twice the price to get this kind of usability and performance.

@@joentell Oh hey Joe, I think the T zeros are too small for what I need them for , lounge in a small/medium sized apartment. I think I'm starting to spin out a little with all the options bro ... haha. I was set on the Fluance ai60s until I saw a really negative sound review on Z Reviews that threw me off a bit. A typical case of the more I research, the more uncertainty arises. Thanks for all your hard work with the sound tests and reviews, much appreciated.

@@joentell I've got nothing right now, just a jbl xtreme, I've been using bluetooth headphones for everything for a while now . I've had full theatre systems and studio monitors in the past but I'm currently renting so I wanted to keep my audio setup compact. Was initially looking for self contained powered bluetooth enabled speakers but I guess getting the SMSL AD18 amp and a pair of good speakers will also be fairly compact setup, but that opens up a lot more speaker options which can be a good and bad thing, if you're really bad at making decisions like I am. Which speakers do you think have a particularly good soundstage and low volume clarity out of the ones you've experienced?

@@VI5H Check out my Speaker Leaderboard. bit.ly/SpeakerLeaderboard and my KIT www.kit.com/joentell. I have review videos for all of those speakers. Let me know which ones of those interest you. To answer you question, the Pioneer SP BS22LR's image very well and provide a strong center image. The Jamo S803's sound good at lower volumes.

The sound samples are really neutral and smooth, lacking only deep bass and high treble extension. I wouldn't listen louder than 85 dB average level and they certainly didn't struggle with dynamics once you switched off the limiter.
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about the bass and high treble. It was so accurate that zooming into the waveform from both the source and the playback recording from the T1E's, they even looked very similar! Moreso than some of the other speakers I've reviewed.

If you plug into the computer through the optical connection is it using your onboard DAC from your motherboard or sound card or the Vanatoo DAC?
@jasonalec6573
@jasonalec6573 3 жыл бұрын
Late response but optical is a digital connection, so it'd be using the Vanatoo's DAC to convert it from digital to analog.

is it worth twice the price of the transparent zero ? what about compared to t0+ a $150 subwoofer, isnt it cheaper and better ?
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
Great question. I think it depends where it will be used. I don't think a $150 subwoofer (new) would do these justice. I think you would need to spend $300+ for a sub that matches the performance of these speakers (extremely accurate response ) So it's worth the extra cost IF you don't plan on using a sub. I think a T0 with an SVS SB1000 would sound better overall, especially for movies.
@amanieux
@amanieux 5 жыл бұрын
@@joentell surprised that a cheap $150 subwoofer (such as Dayton SUB-1200 ) would sound so bad to our ear compared to a better $500 sub (such as the SVS SB1000 you recommend) as i though our human auditory system was less sensitive to low frequencies because meaningful sounds such as human speech is in the mids we evolved to have a very accurate mid sensitivity but not so much in the lows or highs.
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
@@amanieux What you're saying about human hearing is true that it is more sensitive to certain frequencies, but most budget subs are very peaky. They hit certain frequencies much louder than others. You can see from my Subwoofer Shootout video and the video I'm uploading today about the SVS SB3000. You know me, I'm all for budget audio. The less expensive the better. But I have to tell the truth that the less expensive subs I've tried cannot compete with the more expensive ones. I'm still looking though!

These are good speakers but I returned them because they could not compete with my Adam A3X monitors or my Focal CMS 40 monitors. Totally an unfair comparison as those two pairs of speakers lack a remote control, Bluetooth, and other consumer features that add value.
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
In what way could they "not compete"? I know those Focals are built like tanks.
@seanb3303
@seanb3303 5 жыл бұрын
The 3 main challenges I had with the Encores were. 1. They sounded like small speakers. Not because of lack of bass, but because of the tiny image that they produced. Instruments sounded miniature. 2. I couldn't get them to disappear. I always knew exactly where the sound was coming from. This is less of an issue nearfield. 3. The tone was IMO too cool and this sound signature of the speaker left its imprint on every song, giving me the feeling that every song I listened to was recorded in the same studio. Two ways to very noticeably improve this speaker. 1. Use a sub. While it's admirable that they got this much bass out of a small enclosure, it's a bit try hard and best to offload it to a subwoofer. 2. If not using a sub, the Isoacoustic stands are almost a requirement. The Focals basically win (for sound not features) because they are so well rounded and without pitfalls. Unlike many studio monitors, they are not harsh and dry. They are enjoyable to listen to and for this reason I can see recording engineers rejecting them for being too hifi sounding. Having said that, they are not rolled off on top or boosted in the upper midrange like so many hifi speakers are.
@joentell
@joentell 5 жыл бұрын
@@seanb3303 I understand where you're coming from with regard to everything you've said. I pretty much said the same thing in other words, these are better nearfield and the sweet spot was small far-field compared to other speakers I've reviewed. 3. These are some of the flattest sounding speakers I've reviewed. I think the "coolness" comes from the fact that they don't roll-off any of the top end like some other manufacturers do. I think roll-off is very useful for untreated rooms as the highs start bouncing around which makes the speaker sound brighter than necessary. I turn down the treble on mine and that helps out. Again, I think nearfield, you end up increasing the direct sound and reducing reflected sound so what sounds "bright" far-field, sounds accurate nearfield. Thanks for responding by the way.
