Your attitude towards sewing the dress for your dtr is amazing and admirable. It’s impressive that you were able to roll with the challenges and create something so gorgeous. I hope to steal some of that perspective for my journeys in this new year. Thank you for sharing all of that! 💜

Beautiful job on the dress! Yes, put the elastic in before you put it away or (if you’re like me) you’ll be doing it the morning of the next blessing day and put the gps tracker in the hem of the dress 🤣🤣🤣🤣💓💓💓💓

The dress and bonnet are so special! While you are going to do some finishing on the bonnet, maybe you could purchase some ribbon and replace the ties at the same time!

Most perfect dress. My son was Christened in Ireland in 2009 in his great grandfather’s (mum’s side) handmade silk dress from South Africa. He was too big for it so I used satin lace at the back to “get” the sides together. Dress is 90 years old. Incidentally he was the first Catholic to get christened in it!

I used our family christening dress for one of mine but the problem with it was babies were christened so fast years ago and we all wait till they're older now so she barely fit it and it definitely didn't do up at the neck! So I'd say it's a great idea to have created a new, appropriately sized heirloom! I would swap out the chin ties on the bonnet for ribbon if you are going to be adding in the elastic and haven't sewn up the opening yet. The whole ensemble is gorgeous. If you have some of the silk yarn left over maybe knitting booties would be an option? Or get a knitter friend to knit them for you if the mojo isn't there at the moment.

Love ThT idea of the booties. I’d need to hold it five at a time as it’s so thin
