The sound of the stock pipes is awful, my lawn mower gives me more gratification. I have a set of V&H Big Shots on my Dyna. Every time I start it, I smile. As for hearing, anyone riding without earplugs is damaging their ears, regardless of the exhaust. Wind noise alone can be 100db.

I've got a 2017 slim s here in Australia 🇦🇺 absolutely love it! More than enough power and torque, rides beautiful, changing the seat soon, adding an exhaust, air cleaner etc, and a set of pullback risers as I'm sorta vertically challenged haha 😄

In my experience owning a few bikes with Short Shorts; they're really not loud to the rider. I mean you'll hear em, but they're not loud to you when you're on the bike.

Currently have an HD with the Short Shots. Wasn't my choice, the bike came that way. I have now spent like $1200 to get a complete stock exhaust with everything I need, so I can get rid of the stubby noisy pipes. I'd much rather save my hearing for the future than listen to an exhaust that's way too loud.

Lol I have a 2020 softail standard with stock exhaust and my buddy came over with his 2020 iron 883 (he has stock exhaust with the baffles cut off) and his sounded so much louder and better, you’ve sold me on these pipes man I’m gonna ask my local dealership how much to put them on and if it’s nothing crazy I’m gonna order them

@@trippontwowheels I actually ended up with a set a freedom performance upswept fishtails hahaha so the complete opposite. Did the whole uninstall of the stock pipes and install of the new ones myself and managed to not mess anything up though so it was a fun learning experience (and waaaay louder)

I live in Charlotte North Carolina. Super cold and wet! The standard is a great bike. It’s affordable and easy to modify, (When you can find parts.)

Got those chrome on my 02 Wide Glide and man does it sound mean when you open it up. Definite head turner but not in an unpleasing sense. BTW, they make those shitty stock exhaust in hopes youll upgrade them at their shops which is also kind of shitty.

Problem is that they have to fit a fuckin great big cat in the stock exhaust to satisfy California rules on emissions and noise. It's not just Harley, most manufacturers sell a cat eliminator to fit.

The US EPA will not let Harley or any other bike maker put on any exhaust of the sort due to noise and pollution restrictions, so we're kind of stuck with things as they are. Bought a 2018 low rider softail. 7.5k miles 20 inch apes lots, of chrome, Bonneville Salt Pearl, AND it has the short shots which I absolutely love. For 14k I have a damn near perfect bike in my taste. Buy used not new. Too many people buy new bikes customize them, then hardly put any miles on them and sell. Basically all the work is done for you. Including the extra price point for brand new.

No. Only 4 valves per cylinder. Add both cylinders together, and you get the "8" in "Milwaukee 8".
