I love seeing more humour. The channels and shows I enjoy the most are the ones with humour... especially that Ryan Reynolds, self-deprecating sense of humour. I remember him in blade... a very serious movie, and the levity he brought, though short lived, was great.

@OrdinaryFilmmaker I 100% agree. Humour is a part of life. I find it odd consuming content without any kind of humour...it feels...fake. But then, humour is also tricky. It's gotta be somewhat natural and not forced. A delicate balance.

While I liked your joke about marriage, marrying someone who understands the value of money is a huge factor in preparation for retirement, funding college and life’s emergencies. My wife wasn’t rich, but she understood the value of money and had some equity when we met. After 12 years being together, we are debt free and able retiring to Vancouver is something we can now afford with a single vision - well almost a single vision. She still likes the idea of those $5M homes.... I want to dig a little deeper on the 5th point about finding a property with value. I really don’t want to have renters, but I do want a space for a studio. Like you I have a KZbin channel. I’d love to have a view of the mountains or English Bay as a back drop. How realistic is this for under $2.5M? What other value propositions should we look for? By the way, love your attempt at humour ;) Life + a good wife = happiness. Life + a good wife + humour = heaven on earth :P Always look on the brighter side of life :) Thanks for another thought provoking video.

@OrdinaryFilmmaker Yes, you've got it right. Bringing money to the table helps, but what's even more important is being on the same page and having the same long-term priorities...and a sense of humour goes a long way to navigating the bumps along the way. At $2.5M as a budget, you'll have options. The decision would be whether it's a larger/luxurious condo, a quality townhouse, a family-sized 1/2 duplex or an older (but updated) house that would provide you with some land (on the East side of Vancouver). So it'll depend on how you prioritize a mixture of space, land, location and views.

@@LivingInVancouver-BC I'm surprised to say that me and my wife are very different people, but when it comes to our vision in life, respect for each other and what we consider important, we are very much aligned on what's important. I'm happy we aren't too far away from taking our foot off the throttle. While we have our favourites, we need to be careful to not overlook other opportunities when we are ready to purchase. I like owning land. So does Susan, though she would like one of those updated units. We'll give you a list of the main capabilities, but leave you room to suggest options we would not otherwise consider. I am taking an academic / architectural approach, but real estate is very much about emotion too.

@OrdinaryFilmmaker I couldn't imagine how boring life would be if we were exactly like our partners! While it can be challenging making life-altering decisions with another person, it's worth the work.

I've seen friends, coworkers and other people I know who got into real estates with their friends. Of the 5 I know, 4 ended up really badly and they never talk to each other again!!!!!!!
@LivingInVancouver-BCАй бұрын
@hammertimee777 True. All relationships can come to an end...and these arrangements are no different. It's important to have a legal agreement laid out to deal with the possibility of separating down the road...like a pre-nup.

Have you ever made a video about disabled friendly housing for people who don't like condos?
@LivingInVancouver-BCАй бұрын
@lisadamico8318 I haven't, no. Unfortunately, I have to make videos that have broader, more general appeal and that topic might be a little too focused for the KZbin algorithm to know what to do with. However, happy to answer a couple questions if you want to shoot me an email!

Get a remote job, create a business abroad - build a successful product. Move to a place that is low cost, low tax. Possibly somewhere in South America or tax free Middle East. Even America could be an option, but you’re have to live in the South. If you don’t have a rich family, invest in yourself. Ensure that you have the skills to live anywhere so you can get the jobs that can give you that cash to buy.

@mstt3530 Remote work in USD is the way to go! But most importantly, as you say...investing in yourself is key to getting a head.

Have you got any experience with equity coops? Vancouver is one of only a few cities that have them. They are less money than comparable strata properties. There are pros and cons in buying them but it may help people get into the market.
