Thanks so much! I tried the flushing hack, and lot of black rubber pieces came out. So, I suppose I'll be changing that hot water shutoff valve. Pressure is restored, though! Definitely made my week. :)

I recently installed a new Pfister Seahaven kitchen faucet. Had the issue with the low pressure on the cold side. Realized I have a bad cold water valve. The washer was falling apart. Fixed the valve with a new stem kit. Easy fix. Followed your steps but it would not dislodge anything. A comment mentioned about taping the spout to get some extra pressure coming out the cold line. I could not get a good seal with the tape.. What I eventually did was squeeze the spout line under the sink and that provided enough extra water pressure to shoot out the broken washer piece. Good flow on both sides now. Great tips by your video and commentors. Thanks!

Nice video, this is a common problem. The seat washer will eventually disintegrate in old stop valves and clog faucets and toilet fill valves too. I try to remember to check that when replacing a faucet or fill valve and either replace the washer in the stop valve or install a newer type "quarter turn" valve that doesn't have a washer. This is a great video of how to check all the clog points in modern single handle faucets.

I had the tube in my hot water heater disintegrate about 15 years ago. We had plastic coming out of all the faucets, clogging stuff up. A few months ago, the upstairs bath wouldn't shut off. I called a plumber and he said it would cost $1200.00 to replace the old faucet shut offs. I did some research and found the parts online and the tool to go with them. I pulled the handle off the hot water handle, removed the two way valve, and beneath it was a 3 inch piece of pipe that had disintegrated those many years ago. what a pain!!! but I saved $1100 bucks!

Right before I closed on my current house, the water heater had to be replaced. Six years later black crud started coming out of the faucets in the master bath. Quickly discovered it was hot water only and after flushing the water heater tank, still had the problem. I pulled the beautiful braided steel hoses going in/out that were new with the heater and sure enough, there was black rubber inside which started to deteriorate on the hot side. Replaced them with convoluted stainless steel lines; all better since!

Who would have ever thought that would be it? I spent hours trying to figure out why my crea bar faucet stopped working (very low flow) when the only thing I did was changed out my under sink APEC point of use water filter cartridges with a new one. You know that should improve flow if anything right? Everything worked fine with the old filter, I just replaced it with new filter same make/model. The only thing I can conclude was the new filter had some residual carbon bits that when installed they flushed and immediately clogged that little POS filter that I never knew existed until I watched your video. You’re my hero for life!

Saw this video AFTER I ran through the problem myself. I called a local plumbing outfit (in USA) and they said "backflushing couldn't be done because of a oneway valve, but they could replace the whole faucet with the only one they stock for $1000.00 !" I said "no way" and then took apart the entire faucet piece by piece over a day or two and cleaned it out. For backflushing the lines I used a brass dishwasher inlet connector attached to a garden hose. The debris rested inside the diverter valve accessible after removing the handle. In my case it was rust from replacing a single fitting with 2 connections: (1 sink 1 dishwasher). I had replaced it while installing a new d/w because the old valve wouldn't shut off completely while working on the d/w leaving me with shutting off all the hot water.

I've got the same problem. Old kitchen faucet was running slow. Replaced it, and the new one got slow after a week or two. I discovered a degraded bibb washer in the hot water shutoff valve, just like you. I pulled out all of the visible rubber fragments around the valve and replaced washer. But problem continued. Tomorrow I'll try this solution. Just out of curiosity, is your hot water shutoff valve a Brasscraft? I think they might have had a run of bad rubber washers. Thanks for the video!

1:50 shouldn't there be a one way valve on the cold water in the faucet so you can't push possibly contaminated hot water into the cold drinking water?
@beachrider212 жыл бұрын
Why would the hot water be contaminated? I've never seen a one way valve in a house.

@@beachrider21 it's been sitting in your hotwater tank, might have been at a temperature promoting bacterial growth, etc. maybe mostly historical kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpermIirlJ1-naM I think it is actually a requirement in many places

@@fuzzy1dk That video is talking about British water systems with water storage tanks open to contamination. Modern houses have closed hot water tanks supplied with potable water. If the hot water coming out of your taps isn't potable there's a problem with your water supply or the pipes in your house.

Hello, I live in vancouver and I´ve arrived from Peru 7 days ago, I bought all my tools becouse I thought I would be able to buy and optimize (cut) melamine panels for a lower cost. Now I got notice that it is really hard to find different melamine designs (surface colors) and services, like cuting and edges covering. Do you know a place that does it?, as it is normal in Peru, i thought it would be the same or maybe better here, but it is not. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS AND YOUR SUPPORT

Maybe ask the same question at Home Depot or Lowe's? If you're lucky they'll have someone knowledgeable about the local market. If that doesn't pan out, head to your local immigration services office, they should have career counselling and hopefully a big enough network to connect you with someone who has knowledge of the industry. Good luck with your journey in Canada!

Thing is, when you run water, the flow pushes the rubber bits into the screen. Once the flow stops, they sink back into the line and it starts all over again!!

Hey, thanks a lot for the video, my hot water was clogged on the shower at a mixer tap like that. After some fiddling, the idea o disconnecting the hot water an using the pressure of the cold water to unclog it worked underfully for me. The clog was the result of an old rubber thingy that was breaking apart. I still need to replace that though.
