I spent two years of my high school years in Vancouver, met my first crush in Moscrop secondary school, also met my very best friend living in there, but in the end I had to moved to Calgary in 2006 because of family reason. Back then I cried because I didn't want to leave the city. Looking back now, moving to Calgary was a blessing in disguise. My high school best friend also moved out to Saskatoon for job, and when we talk, we are both happy that we left the city we once loved, we had no desire to visit it anymore. Vancouver always have a special place in my heart, watching it turning into a slum hurts.
@Tugela606 ай бұрын
It is not turning into a slum. What is happening is that gentrification is slowly reducing the area homeless people can hang out in, with the result that they get concentrated into a few blocks of the city which has always been skid row.
@timmyfung016 ай бұрын
@@Tugela60 may be you are right, but the general population of homeless did increase. it is not just the homeless too, the crime rate is terrible, I got my truck window smashed last time I was there just because I left my luggage in the truck for a quick lunch. This never happened to me in Calgary for nearly 20 years. roads are much more narrower than here in Alberta and drivers are much more aggressive. people are less polite and house price is insane. @@timmyfung01 I have been here for thirty five years. It has improved a lot in that time. No one I know has experienced any sort of crime at all, except one lady who had her car keyed once by a crazy person in her neighborhood (not homeless). You can't just blame Trudeau. Housing and drugs and the countless issues we have in Canada are not problems that were just created a decade ago. A lot of these problems are in the making from 40 years ago. Mass immigration is definitely a Trudeau mess which snowballed into housing being way too expensive. Let's hope that us Canadians stand strong together and try to take our country back, we need to stop letting immigrants that don't want to work push their cultural crap on us. We should stop being so overly accommodating and let them push our values aside. I understand that a country always needs immigration but Trudeau let everyone in regardless of income and skills that they could bring with them. We let in criminals too! Our youth can't get low skilled jobs while they are in school because companies are hiring immigrants that the government pays their wages as part of a fed incentive/program. Enough is enough. Our crime rates have been increasing in the past 20yrs as well, and yes a sharper incline in the last decade. Canadians are nice and accepting people however, I feel that our kindness is being abused and we as a society are being abused and not appreciated.

According to the US Census Bureau, the official poverty rate in 2020 was 11.4%, representing approximately 37.2 million people living in poverty. Junkies and those homeless people are not poor. They can earn 1 million dollar and it will still only last for less than a month. More money = more and expensive drug. I get surprised when people hate legal immigrants coming in Canada to earn money by working hard while paying more taxes, but not the govt. or drug dealers who are born and raised in Canada yet help to ruin this country. Everything is too expensive nowadays that hard working citizen can't hope to save enough money to even buy a house unless they commit to around 30 years of mortgage. Being junkie and homeless is easy, as you get instant pleasure, and free place to live and govt. charge normal worker more taxes so they can build you a shelter.
