You can buy shares once you have trade rights with O’Mara. Every time you trade with her, your reputation increases. You’ll gain more income from buying her shares and maintain relationship with her by trading with her.
@Shiftry87Ай бұрын
Is that even viable without having to micromanage the trade constantly? From my experiance the NPC´s buy so little of things on there islands and it changes often so u cant really set up a stable trade route to make it worth the effort.

Isn't buying shares the best thing to do when sitting on a bunch of cash, as the share value will go up as the AIs develop their islands. I bought shares worth 500k, which grew to being worth over £10m worth. I prioritise buying Beryl's as she progresses island development most aggressively, just be mindful not to buy shares in too many of her islands as she'll declare war.

I've been confused by the circular trade routes, in both this and the previous video about them. To me it doesn't seem any easier/better than just having the routes setup to send the amount the destination islands need (with a little cushion). Because you have to "set" the amount demanded and keep track/update that anyway, just in minimum stock on "source" and intermediate stops, instead of the trade route itself. Am I wrong? What am I missing that makes this more convenient and easier? In this case, in the 23:05 spot in the video for Schnapps - instead of just sending skarsbag and nickelby the schnapps they need (say 45 for Skars), you have to track the need on pratwell and skarsbag and set appropriate minimum stocks there. And any cushion you send, ends up piling up on nickelby, instead of your schnapps producing island. I'm missing what time/effort that saves you - I would definitely like the idea of not worrying about how much islands need, having to calculate, re-calculate, update. But when updates are needed due to demand, all this method seems to do is make it so you update 2 minimum stocks instead of update 2 amounts inside a trade route. Sorry for the long question, but ive read a bunch of reddit posts and such about managing trade routes, trying to find a better way, but I feel like im missing something - it always seems tedious either way lol. EDIT: Ok, it seems like one reason this is maybe better, is that pratwell is a production island, not the "capital", and nickelby is the capital, right? So nickelby, the capital, is where extra will pile up on by using this method. And yea you still have to calculate the satellite island needs and keep updating min stock, but thats probably easier because their population should level out - and eventually public moorings will happen too, so pop shouldnt change. I THINK im seeing the benefit now as you transition away from your capital producing so much.

It's pros and cons basically... The pro of circular trade routes is less ships needed. There's also the argument to be made that in the case of something like Prat where all of the schnapps is made, trying to manage multiple trade routes out of that one place taking schnapps to multiple Islands can be a little tedious and you have to make sure that you don't run out for each trade route. Simplifies things having one ship. The con of course is that you do have to manage multiple islands from the one route but that's in place of having to manage the amount of schnapps being picked up by each individual trade route if you went that direction.

I build supply islands for everything so i can build mega cities...i got so many trade routes it would drive this guy nuts...lol. i do the soap trip full time but my money maker is pocket watches and sewing machines to Enbesa. That allows me the freedom to expand faster and monopolize. I build 2 mega ciries in the old world and 2 in the new world. That pretty much keeps the supply lines open so i can expand into artic. Enbesa is essentially a profit dlc for me and i mostly ignore it. Been playing this game since Anno 1602 and this has been the best one so far.

I’ve been watching so many of your videos and thank you so much - my main question is (and I’m on console) I keep stabilising around engineers. But I simply cannot break even for long. I get mad swings in profit and loss and every time I stabilises a certain areas needs the population seems to change and I need more, so I build more but that new addition needs more stuff to work effectively and I’m going round and round and round… help 😅😅😅

Question on producing things like sausages locally…what if you’re concerned about the pollution on your island?

Trade union can be used to greatly reduce their impact, but on the other hand that's precisely the reason why having no local sausage production is a thing

Are trade routes better than charter routes?
@xndrgn6 ай бұрын
Trade routes are pretty much better in all aspects. The only use of charter routes I see is some temporary, low-traffic routes when you don't have appropriate ship ready so you just quickly set it up and forget, or when you are at war and being harrassed so you use charter routes to not worry about ships destroyed and building & assigning new ships all the time (charter route ships respawns automatically, although taking a bit more time sailing from outer map borders).

He’s bringing in iron from other islands to probably keep his pollution low, I do the same thing. Is this wrong? Real question btw
@ziokalco4 ай бұрын
Maybe my opinion is affected by expert economy, but often times you want to max all your iron mines (including overworking the miners) as that is the main bottleneck for mid game expansion and combat

That Beryl is infuriating. She asks for help , I send a ship over there … there’s a 30 minute countdown clock. I do some chores and get to my ship a couple minutes later, after it sailed…. since I saw a nasty message off her. Looks like she gave up waiting for me - so much for the 30 minute clock. I’m not watching my ships sail to her, in fear she might get antsy and sail away herself. Impatient bot.

I think the only reason to ever buy shares is if you want to take over an island without warfare. Since I never play with three star AI I do not know if that would end well, but one and two star AI are easily appeased after you took over their island. Just do some flattering, questing and money giving. But buying shares for income? Waste of influence and good will.
