Agreed. Even the original tempo is a bit fast for my liking - this song needs some evocation at the tail end. I always feel that the 'you can own the earth and still, all you own is earth until' should build to a crescendo with a hold on the last note. they missed an opportunity with that. Vanessa Williams is poised and polished and elegant, as always, but somehow I think the song needs something more. Possibly either 'more of a performance' or by showing some vulnerability in the voice.

I agree, Kuhn is a much better vocalist, I wish they had done something like they did with Celine & Angela Lansbury where they both sang it. Just Around the Riverbend should’ve been nominated too! Because then both women could have a chance at solos.
