I've always been happy for her success. Well deserved. even if I didn't approve of her posing nude before her Miss America win...no doubt (in my mind) intentional tactic. I'm sure made the difference between her getting where she has and disappearing into the crowd. Posing nude with another woman got her the needed notoriety/publicity....no "accident" the photos were done and were sold to Penthouse magazine at the "right time".... why weren't the photos out 5 years AFTER the Miss America win?? ...or 5 yesrs BEFORE??? She did what it took..... I think "attractive people (mostly women)" have to "pay a price" to "make it" in "entertainment. Nature of the best/businesses. Soemtimes we hear about "the cost" ando other times we don't. There will always be predators out there in any field where there is 'beauty"". Better Vanessa did the phtoos vs possibly having to _____ to get her nortoriety/publicity..

Vanessa traced her genealogy back in 2010 on Who Do You Think You Are, the fascinating ep is here on KZbin Regardless, she is an African American woman. Almost all Black Americans whose ancestors were enslaved here have some degree of European ancestry

As already stated numerous times over Vanessa's longstanding career, her mother Helen is Black, and her late father Milton was Black. Both sets of Vanessa's grandparents were also Black. Her paternal great-great grandmother was White.

LOL, her father was clearly black, a light-skinned black man like Prince and Smokey Robinson. Black American is a biracial ethnic group with various levels of admixture, we all share African ancestry, a culture and identity regardless of what shade or phenotype we have. It's not a pure race, no ethnic group is. Also interracial marriage (between black and white) was illegal in most of the US in 1963 when Vanessa was born. It took until 1967 and it was a huge deal and is still taboo in many places. So how would a white man marry a black woman back then at that time of racial tensions? If it did happen, it was social suicide.
