Her father's generation that travelled out of west Africa were largely not economic migrants. Usually post late 70s and1980s. But from 80s onward, a flood of economic migrants traveled out enmass. I am from Nigeria. I had family friends and cousins who would just go on holiday and come back. Then our currency was stronger than US dollar and at par with UK pound. But the moment the exchange rate skyrocketed, people had more economic reasons to travel. Most that left Nigeria to study in the 70s and before usually had jobs and cars waiting. Life was good then.

Very family and very simple to listen too. Love to hear your mums side too. Your dad is very open to your questions.
