Slightly upset at wodemaya on this video. Vanessa is 100% right and although you say you like her now in the video it seemed as if you didnt get her original point . She is right to highlight the fact that trash from around the world is being dumped in Ghana. I would have preferred you reach out to her and both go back to that town and start up an initiative to stop waste dumping and help provide an alternative source of income for the locals. Theres no point on showing the beauty of Africa when there are places where people in abject poverty it's not telling the full truthful story.
@biologic90814 жыл бұрын
Wode Maya was a bit hard on her... We love ur work and ur success, but try to stay humble, since the best is yet to come. The young lady was somehow right to point out that place and we must work together to help stop the mess. I hate watching negative videos abt Africa, but sometimes there's the need to talk/show our problem and educate people on how we can solve it.
@TobinFrosty4 жыл бұрын
@Emile PAM I understood his point but dont agree with it ... I'm pretty sure Vanessa educated people about the fact people are using Ghana as a dumping ground... Just be cause you have seen lots of videos on the issue doesnt mean others have, I personally hadn't ... Raising issues of awareness is great and Batta Box a nigerian KZbin channel do this really well.. They go to impoverished areas interview the people and set up a method for viewers to get in touch and help out... Like this example I would have preferred wodemaya reach out to Vanessa and say let's do a collab on trying to help the people of the town. Showcasing the better parts of Africa is awesome dont get me wrong but simultaneously ignoring the bad things happening wont make them disappear. I stand by my original point Its disingenuous to advocate this position.... Those people need help and the government needs to stop allowing other countries to dump thier waste in Ghana.

Jaychristian Norman It is because if they do remove them from that place they risk loosing elections because most of the people there are what we call in Ghanaian parlance “ molemole” such people do not vote base on sound governance policies, it doesn’t mean anything to them plus they are faithful voters, they don’t stay away from voting and they also form large part of our population, again that is how they make their daily bread. However there is a way to get them out without the government having to be blamed. Environmentalists can talk to the landlords the Ga traditional council, show them the effects of their activities on the environment and people around that area and trust me within days that crap will not be there. The Ga Kings have power to remove anybody on their lands if they don’t like you or your activities and government cannot do shit.

Once the video started, I realized that was Ghana and literally, the translation of the documentary in French was “Ghana, the world’s dumpsite”. Someone was making fun of Ghana, I was mad and got into a fight. The professor stopped the video lol. I keep highlighting this issue on social media but nothing happens. Vanessa, you did a great job with that video showing e-waste, electronic waste. I’m in Texas, US and I teach history. In our history studies we teach about e-wast that comes from the US under the false umbrella that the US is supplying what they call third world countries with electrics. Which are actually in useable. They use this piece in history to depreciate Africa and some parts of China to the world. So good job for spreading awareness and when you are filming just continue to drive your point and ask questions how do we keep it from happening. Keep that thought provoking point strong while expressing the desire to keep your Country safe, healthy, and strong. Your leaders should not accept your country as being a dumping ground that provides unsafe job for its people to sort through looking for useable parts or scraps for such little money. I applaud your efforts.

I am a jamaican by birth, African by blood. I really love and appreciate my African people but I dont like when we get so sensitive when people show a side of Africa that isn't beautiful. We need to see everything because Africa have everything.

As a Ga I need to highlight the fact Vanessa's video on Agbogbloshi was a positive one. We must be informed on the serious situations unfolding in such places as Agbogbloshi where industrial and electronic waste that had been banned for import into Ghana, and also banned as export from EU countries end up here in Accra. These hardworking young men and women are seriously affected by extremely toxic environment that they created - with No chance of getting treated or cured when they develop full blown cancer, leukemia or even something else because of not having the funds in the first place. The result is they live with a LOW life expectancy. If they live to be forty, they've lived long. The land itself is so contaminated that people living in the community would continue to have low life expectancy. Vanessa, please keep on working to highlight such negative impacts on our people and the environment from outside influences or pressure from foreign players. Sometimes, the average guy (worldwide) is unaware of what's going on and therefore, with limited information, they would even blame the victim.

I don't think Wode Maya is going to stop his videos after 1 year. Maybe he'll appear in less of them but he's got so much more to say. I understand why he doesn't want Africans to show the usual negative images others show but some things won't change unless the leaders may be motivated to change them. Or the leaders are changed and politicians are held responsible. Wode Maya is king of African youtubers and Venessa, you have a very nice channel. Subscribed.
