Nice one Vanessa. Keep the vid coming.Having a house in Ghana helps with expenses. My son went to school in Ghana until high school which he went to in the State. My daughter went until 5th grade she is in her senior year now and is going to college here. I am moving back to Ghana next year for good. Retire from my job of 20 years👍🏾😊Just love it in Ghana.

Truth - but Global Warming is here to stay - avoid coastal building - you will be hammered by increasingly extreme tempests. Go inland, fight poverty, & only employ local tradespeople, except for maybe an ethical builder who is active in several regions, and is committed to ecological housing. DO NOT fall for the "Gated community", Upper Class hype!

It’s a shame that many Ghanaians can’t see anything good in Ghana and are DESPERATE to leave. It’s refreshing to see someone who sees the benefits and opportunities in Ghana.

It depends. Life in many 3rd world countries can be overwhelming and people work a lot hard to never see any result. Vanessa's videos are cool but many of the things she mentions are mostly for "rich" people (rich for 3rd world standards) of western countries. For a guy living in a poorer neighborhood in Accra (and many other places around the world) sending their mothers 200USD a month to "help" is a big dream.

Living in Ghana has its own advantages and disadvantages. if you find a way to overcome the disadvantages living in Ghana becomes so much better and fun, but certain little things will frustrate you but if you stay calm and over look them trust me it gets much better.

Anytime one moves or relocates, there is need to assimilate and adapt to adjust. The psychosocial studies enlighten such process in view of psychosocial stages. The younger you are the better and quicker you adjust. Therefore toddlers and school age children do well. In addition to that, the support system you may have makes it smooth and may vary from one family to the other. But Vanessa you are well prepared. Kudos!

I admire how you have been very honest with the questions in the video. My advice to you is that whether you choose to stay permanently or not in Ghana, please grab a piece of land for yourself now. I hope very well that you have done that already. The area you might consider as bush and not developed now will turn into a bustling residential area in less than a decade. I am giving you this advice from my own experience with land matters. I remember being very sad with the area where I had my land.

Vanessa what made you choose a house with no form of proper water supply there are houses in Gana which are on the mains water as my uncl Who lives near Neema has a house that has mains water, in fact he sells it to the locals when their tanks run empty. If the tanks you have in your house empty after two days you’re either consuming a hell of a lot of water, or you have a leak somewhere. That’s what happened to my dad’s House he was literally filling them every two days, in the end he dug a bor hole but he owns his house. And if you’re missing or should I say your kids are missing those non-perishable snacks then twice a year you could do a door-to-door shipment. When my parents go they always send a massive barrel of snacks stuff that they know will cost an arm and a leg in Gana even things like washing up liquid cleaning products bleach even non-bio washing detergent, I think it was Della who said they don’t sell that in Gana. Can that be right with all the malls and supermarkets that are there.

Happiness and a solid foundation is everything! You’ll have the mental energy to make choices for yourself. Since you asked, could you do a video on what it’s like for single women, over 40, without kids? Do they have any unexpected challenges? Do they just end up hanging out with the younger, single people? Your hair is perfection! I kept staring at the lines as you spoke. 😍

I moved to Ghana November 2021 from London. It's been a learning curve and at times I've felt like screaming due to the lights out, lack of water and not being able to have UK banter. However, I feel: how can I ever go back to London??? Love your channel and your hair btw. Another thing is I feel like a women here, not a black women. I followed your channel by way of tips and advice prior to moving here - very helpful! Hugs xx

If you build and use off grid solutions like solar, mechanised borehole, etc you will avoid most of these issues. I am planning to move to Ghana but I won't move until I built my own place, powered by solar energy , with a mechanised borehole, etc.

Great content. You look good in your hairstyle. Accommodation and Transportation are key to your happiness in Ghana. Rent can pretty quickly add up, so for anyone with intentions to live in Ghana, it's best to plan such that you buy your first house before you come to Ghana. Companies like Lakeside Estate, etc have decent homes with flexible payment plans (e.g. 10% down payment, 90% within a year or 2). Buy the house in Ghana with cash while still abroad with say financing from abroad. Live abroad (say 2 - 5 yrs) and ensure a substantial part of your debt is paid. You can then comfortably come to Ghana, knowing accommodation is sorted for you. For transportation, well, save and get yourself a car. Now you are good to take Ghana by storm. The opportunities are endless. Be positive. Be willing to solve problems and make yourself and Ghana great. Good luck!

Madam just get solar panels and hook it up to a battery. You know what I’m doing a project in Nigeria and would be importing solar panels in bulk if you want to buy some - do let me know. They are 600W each so 4 - 6 of them should power your house for free. You can plug it to a battery to run your house at night but I’m sure you don’t need it at night just use standard electricity. Let me know.
