It will be wonderful when the day comes that compositions of Vangelis and other great electronic musicians like Tangerine Dream and Patrick O'Hearn are performed live on synthesizer in orchestra concert halls. There are some great synth enthusiasts who are able to reproduce the sounds of those pieces on KZbin, just like this superbly accurate and sensitive performance, and hopefully one day soon it will become possible for such musicians and interpreters to make a fine living and enjoy some fulfilling life adventures.

Elka X705 was THAT Entertainer Flaggship in the early 80´s. Another legendery Elka instrument was the Synthex. Still used by Jean Michel Jarre at the liveacts.

there are so many other keyboards of this type of other unknown brand, just as good, sometimes better. We are talking here about the elka 705, but I could have taken a completely different keyboard, the important thing is what we do with it, and vangelis is the perfect example because from a very simple sound, it will make it expressive and musical.

If you had posted this without a video (just the music), I would have believed it was the original version by Vangelis. Very well done!

without sounding judgemental the mistake you made was because of the positioning of your fingers, I had the same trouble few years ago until a pianist showed me the correct positioning. Made a huge difference to my playing. Love the song and it was good to see the elka. I have one myself, a very underestimated keyboard. I wouldn't part with mine.

...and you absolutely right. Elka 705 is a great "synt organ", simple but truly inspiring sounds.
@Meteotrance9 жыл бұрын
im pretty sure that the string sound of the Elka Rhapsody and X-705 is similar to what Geoff Downes and Trevor Horn used on Video Kill the Radio Stars, it have this special sharpness and eerie quality, very hard to reproduced on a conventional monosynth, the good news is now the Elka X-705 have an emulated version on the software Reason.
@Sweet.Ohm.Studio9 жыл бұрын
Meteotrance I just listen to the demo reason and I have to admit that the simulation of the rhapsody is really bad. Listen rather here : www.forgottenkeys.co.uk/fk4-elka-rhapsody-490-for-kontakt.php or www.audiothing.net/instruments/ekr490/

I just bought one of these on ebay and the guy demonstrated it before I brought it home it was all goond but need some cards cleaning as the top manual is making funny Dr Who noises! I got it home and opened it up for a clean out as it was full of dust bunnies and was filthy. However when I put it back together the bottom manual is dead, not a sound:( any ideas or anywhere I can buy a service book for these please? very upset it is broken and I cant find any manuals online :(

Hi! I have two questions about these organs. I’m looking at a 707 right now. 1) Are they programmable as synths? I’ve seen that there is a envelope control for the amp and filter for instance, but couldn’t make out how conplex it was. 2) Is the synth part only monophonic?
@Sweet.Ohm.Studio6 жыл бұрын
Hi Joachim, the synth party is exactly the SOLOIST 505, very simple, just one oscillator and monophonic with some presets...encyclotronic.com/synthesizers/elka/soloist-505-r809/ Have a good day.
