At 11 I read my first horse book - Misty of Chincoteague. It literally changed my life. I started riding, got really good and started competing, became a college athlete riding horses, letter 4 years, got 3 national championships, paid for my undergraduate and grad school. Horses and NCAA equestrian opened the doors for me to go to the top school in nation and work for the top employer in my field. I had a lot of fun along the way too. It’s amazing what one little horse book can do.

Incredible! I was around 11 too when I first read my first horse book, Black Beauty. That was SAD :( and I wanted to learn horse riding but I grew up in a massive city (Jakarta) with no access to anything equine. The book did give me a lifelong respect for ALL animals; to this day I could never not see them as fully sentient beings capable of feeling pain, joy, and grief just like us :)

Try taking L-lysine in powder or tablet form to prevent cold sores! It has worked WONDERS for me! I still always use an SPF lip balm when outside too :)

I have read the horse whisperer and it was a great book. There are vets that specialize in small mammals. They’re usually called exotics. I have 5 parrots and they are labor intensive. 3 of them are rescues. Birds get lost because people open their doors and they fly out. My parrots go to an avian certified vet. Parrots are very rewarding. They don’t just mimic. They learn and you can have conversations with them. They make my house a happy place.

I love Vanicream so much! I use the cream on my face morning and night after cleansing my face, neck, and chest with Ponds unscented cold cream. After applying the Ponds to my face, I gently wipe it off with cotton rounds. Nothing wipes the dirt off like Ponds! You can see the dirt come effortlessly off and onto the cotton rounds! Then, I spray my face with distilled water and wipe off again with cotton rounds. After that, I gently put on the Vanicream cream and gently work it into my skin. My skin looks so much better doing this routine twice a day, morning and night. My rosacea problem is virtually gone! So happy! ❤

@vra735 Works for my very dry, mature skin (I'm 62).. Rinsing with distilled water is gentler on my sensitive skin than tap water that has a lot of chlorine and other stuff in it. Hope it works well for you, too!

The smell of ponds always makes me think of my grandma. She used it everyday and has beautiful skin into her 90s. She also always wore hats outside and never smoked. Her younger sister smoked and sunbathed and looked 20 years older. It was a good lesson to learn young.

Yay! I do call Vanicream and ask them about the discontinued faves and just check in to see how they are doing. The new Vanicream Moisturizing Cream for Baby is so great for a night cream for dry skin, beta glucans and ceramides so hydrating. Always hoping they create a line for very dry skin. I miss the Vanicream ointment so much! They said they are going to have a new ointment for adults and one for babies sometime soon. I'm always worried that we will lose another product. They do have supply chain issues with certain products unfortunately. I've relied on Vanicream for my skincare for 25 years! So glad the antiprespirant is back!

I read The Horse Whisperer as a teenager. And I wasn’t horse-obsessed but I was very into horses. I was really intrigued by horse behavior because I grew up with dogs and they’re so different. I found training horses such an interesting mental exercise, and honestly very humbling.

I HAVE read that book! It may sound crazy, but the ‘lick and chew,’ method which works on a lot of different wildlife : Horses, deer, squirrels, prairie dogs, etc. The approach shows different wildlife that you’re not an aggressor. It’s fascinating !

YES! HORSES. My first horse book was Black Beauty. I read it several times. It made my cry, although Black Beauty had a happy ending. Unfortunately his friends did not. I also read ALL of James Herriot's books. I wanted to be a veterinarian until I nearly passed out in high school biology when I was aupposed to disect a frog. That was a nope!

YES! I just got my Vanicream antiperspirant ! I’ve been waiting and hoping for months and months. It is stiff to put on but it’s the one of the few that doesn’t irritate my pits. And I need antiperspirant not just deodorant! Edited to say I work in a library that doesn’t have a/c so I need that anti stink help. Jodi Picoult has co authored some books with folks lately. Salad & Go has seemed to do pretty well here in the Oklahoma City area. Their prices are super reasonable compared to most places for how much food you get, they have tofu options for everything so they're an inclusive place for vegetarians and vegans (they always double check whether I want the cheese too when I order a wrap with tofu), their customer service has been amazing whenever anything has come out wrong for me, and their drinks are dirt cheap and sooooo good. The cucumber mint lemonade and frozen strawberry lemonade are stupid delicious and not overly sweet and artificial tasting like lemonade at most places. It's a 9/10 from me (10/10 if they ever start offering more vegan dressings besides the balsamic vinaigrette)

My husband grew up riding horses and when we met and later married, we moved to the country so we could have just a couple of horses. I love, love, love horses and wish their smell on their neck could be bottled. My husband always said "the best part of the inside of a man, is the outside of a horse". I would only ride very broke horses, but he was so experienced and could calm an excited horse, and definitely a horse whisperer like I've never seen before. Sorry for the novel (brought back memories).

For mosquito bites, something that's worked for me is this handheld device I bought from the Amazonian called Bite Away. You place it on the bite, press a button and its small plate heats up for a few seconds. and that's it, the itch goes away! seems gimmicky but i've had mine for 3 years and bought a second because i never wanted to risk being without it during the summer if the first one broke
