I recently decided to play Brawl for the first time in a couple years. It's not my preferred Smash bros game, but I gotta admire some of the tech skill involved. Looking back at Brawl Tournaments with M2K and Vinnie and such really makes this game a spectacle. I'm often put at the edge of my seat because of how much tension there is in a match. Being able to cancel hitstun with airdodge and struggling to simply keep a percent lead keeps the tension high. Crew battles are especially tense since even being a stock down is detrimental. Plus, if you're like me, you've probably seen tons of compilations by Trifroze and Forre that show how crazy this game can be. The Meaning of Brawl is still my favorite smash bros video to date. Those videos reaffirmed my love for Ganondorf. lol Granted, this game is the most fun either casually with items or competitively with high tiers/at high level play. But really, that can be applied to Melee as well. At least Brawl has at least 12 fun characters as opposed to Melee's 8, so there's that.

Brawl is in no way a bad game, (well unless you talk competitively I guess.) It added a lot of mechanical improvements that carried over into Smash 4 (albeit refined.) That being said, tripping deserves the jokes. It was such a stupid mechanic. Its biggest fault is being outdone on most fronts by Smash 4 (which is pretty much Brawl but better,) so unless you're like... A really big fan of Snake, Wolf or the not-so-great story mode, it's just kinda redundant.

​@Krystof Perkey People always throw around this "lack of content" thing, which only honestly applies to the 3DS version. In Wii U, pretty much the only thing notably missing is Target Test (no, Target Blast doesn't count.) Classic, All Star, Event Modes, Multi-Man Smash, Home Run Contest pretty much everything is accounted for aside from the Story Mode. That and "content" includes the roster and stage list as well, which is notably larger than all prior games. And that's keeping in mind too that Subspace in Brawl was the most bland and generic thing the series has seen thus far (literally 95% of it is generic locales beating up generic enemies.) There's a reason pretty much the only thing people liked about it were the cutscenes. And Mechanically the game stands out less because it spent its time improving the mess that was Brawl's mechanics instead of being something completely new. Just like how Smash Ultimate took it farther by taking Smash 4's mechanics and improving on them, (something that carries over into the improved Stage Builder, which was also returned and improved upon.) It's also worth noting that Smash 4 is the game that gave us characters like: -Palutena -Shulk -Robin (the only Fire Emblem character to date that didn't fight with just a sword.) -Rosalina & Luma -Villager and that's only a handful It's also the game that gave us third party newcomers, such as Ryu, Pac-Man, Mega Man and fucking Cloud. It's clear their time and effort went into the roster and mechanics moreso than the single player modes most people will play a few times then never touch again, and the same holds true for what Smash Ultimate is aiming for, even moreso, with Characters, Stages and Mechanics being top priority, but calling that game "lacking content" would be just as much of a wrong statement.

@@Robbie_Haruna you're a real stick in the ass, aren't you. Mechanically, smash 4 is way better than brawl, but the lack of an adventure mode and local tournament mode really hurt my ability to enjoy the game at it's fullest. If you look at Mario Tennis Aces, that is mechanically the best Mario tennis game, but its lack of game modes makes it pale in comparison to Mario Power Tennis. Not sure if you've played either of those games, but it proves that superior mechanics don't make a game objectively better than previous ones.

As someone who has put hundreds of hours into brawl minus, it hurt seeing how you guys werent able to figure out some of the coolest moves of each character. Bowsers mid air neutral smash is like a counter, that grabs the opponent and slams them to the ground. Ganandorf has an instant kill if you just tap his neutral smash, ikes side b can trigger unlimited times in a row, allowing you to travel the whole map mid air, and the list goes on. Highly recommend everyone to try it out, it is a lot of fun!
